This is a list of all key items that are found in Generation III. Please note that some of these are also part of the list of key items in Generation I due to Pokémon Red and Green being remade, and several appear in multiple generations.
Some items are specific to a certain region, while others can be found in both Kanto and Hoenn. Those that can be will be indicated.
This list includes only key items from the Game Boy Advance games. For lists of key items in each of the GameCube games, see List of key items in Pokémon Colosseum and List of key items in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.

- Purpose: Use to move faster than walking. Performs tricks.
- Description: A folding bicycle capable of jumps and wheelies.
- Location: At Rydel's Cycles in Mauville City.

- Purpose: Allows players to access Birth Island.
- Description: A ticket required to board the ship to Birth Island. It glows beautifully.

- Purpose: Take to Devon Corporation in Rustboro City to obtain a revived Anorith.
- Description: A fossil of an ancient, seafloor-dwelling Pokémon.
- Location: Route 111 (Ruby, Sapphire) Mirage Tower, Desert Underpass (Emerald: depends on which fossil is picked first)

- Purpose: Holds up to 9999 coins for use at the Rocket Game Corner or Mauville Game Corner.
- Description: A case for holding coins obtained at the Game Corner. It holds up to 9,999 coins.

- Purpose: Take to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island to obtain a revived Kabuto.
- Description: A fossil of an ancient, seafloor-dwelling Pokémon. It appears to be part of a shell.

- Purpose: Allows players to access Southern Island.
- Description: The ticket required for sailing on a ferry to a distant southern island. It features a drawing of an island.

- Purpose: Tells about famous characters.
- Description: A device that enables you to recall what you've heard and seen about famous people.

- Purpose: Allows players to enter the desert sandstorm.
- Description: Nifty goggles that protect eyes from desert sandstorms.

- Japanese: きんのいれば Gold Dentures
- Purpose: Safari Zone Warden's false teeth. Return them to him for HM04 (Strength).
- Description: A set of false teeth lost by the Safari Zone's Warden. It makes his smile sparkle.

- Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. Better than the Old Rod.

Helix Fossil
- Japanese: かいのカセキ Shellfish Fossil
- Purpose: Take to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island to obtain a revived Omanyte.
- Description: A fossil of an ancient, seafloor-dwelling Pokémon. It appears to be part of a seashell.
- Location: Mt. Moon

- Japanese: ダウジングマシン Dowsing Machine
- Purpose: Locates items hidden on the ground.
- Description: A device used for finding items. If there is a hidden item nearby when it is used, it emits a signal.

- Purpose: To be delivered to Steven.
- Description: An extremely important letter to Steven from the President of the Devon Corporation.

- Purpose: Allows operation of the elevator in the Rocket Hideout.

- Japanese: マッハじてんしゃ Mach Bicycle
- Purpose: Use to move much faster than walking. Able to climb muddy slopes.
- Description: A folding bicycle that doubles your speed or better.

- Purpose: Use it to access Team Magma's lair.

- Hoenn: A meteorite found at Meteor Falls.

- Purpose: Deliver to Professor Oak to receive a Pokédex.
- Description: A parcel to be delivered to Prof. Oak from Viridian City's Pokémon Mart.

Old Amber
- Japanese: ひみつのコハク Secret Amber
- Purpose: Take to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island to obtain a revived Aerodactyl.
- Description: A piece of amber that contains the genes of an ancient Pokémon. It is clear with a reddish tint.
- Location: Pewter Museum of Science

- Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water.
- Description: An old and beat-up fishing rod. Use it by any body of water to fish for wild Pokémon.

- Purpose: Displays a map of Kanto and the Sevii Islands.
- Description: A very convenient map that can be viewed anytime. It even shows your present location.

- Japanese: トライパス Tri Pass
- Purpose: Allows players to access the three northernmost Sevii Islands.
- Description: A pass for ferries between One, Two, and Three Island. It has a drawing of three islands.
- Location: One Island, given to the player by Celio upon arrival.

- Purpose: Allows Berries to be watered. If watering is done correctly, the resulting Berry trees will have more Berries to pluck.
