16 links Celadon City to 17. The road southward to Fuchsia City can be dangerous for pedestrians, so be sure to bring a Bicycle.
Also known as Cycling Road, the path that connects Celadon City and Fuchsia City (Routes 16, 17, and 18) is a favorite hangout spot for bikers.  Other than a few battles, it's a pretty easy ride down the slope to Fuchsia City.  Cut down the small tree before you approach the Snorlax to find a hidden area; you can catch a Doduo in the tall grass, and walk through the guardhouse.  Enter the house on the other side, and the girl will give you 02 to keep her hideaway a secret. Teach that to something like Pidgeot or Fearow, and you'll be able to visit any previous town in seconds flat!

You won't get far with the sleeping Snorlax blocking the road, so use your Poké Flute to wake it up.  There are only two Snorlax in the region, so if you don't catch this one, make sure to get the one south of Lavender Town!  Double-check that you've got your Bicycle with you, or you won't be allowed on Cycling Road.

Fly, Fly Away
Use Cut on the small tree to reach the secluded northern area. Enter the house beyond the gate and speak to the girl inside. She prefers to spend time on her own and gives you 02 to keep her hideaway a secret. Using Fly in the field allows a Trainer to instantly travel to any city or town that had been visited previously.

Now that you're on Cycling Road, it's all downhill to Fuchsia City.  To hit the brakes on your bike, hold down the A or B buttons. Cruise down the slope to 18.
Roadblock
A Snorlax has fallen asleep near the gate, blocking the path. Use the Poké Flute to wake the Pokémon, which attacks in a grumpy rage! Snorlax are hard to find, so catch it if you can.

The bridges of 17 pass over the ocean on the way downhill to 18. Anyone riding a Bicycle on Cycling Road who decides to stop pedaling will continue rolling southward, unless the A or B Buttons are held.

Hang a right and ride to the guardhouse.  If you've got a Slowbro to trade, the kid on the second floor will swap you for a Lickitung (the only one in the game).  You can battle the three Bird Keepers south of the guardhouse for some quick cash before heading east to Fuchsia City.
18 leads east from 17 to Fuchsia City.

Fuchsia City
Time for a Trade
Enter the gate and visit the second floor to find a boy who is looking to trade Pokémon. He is hoping to get a Slowbro, and is willing to trade his Lickitung for one. Slowbro can be caught in the wild or evolved from a Slowpoke, but Lickitung is a unique Pokémon found nowhere else.

With Team Rocket still reeling from their botched operation in Saffron City, you are free to continue on your quest.  Fuchsia City hosts the Safari Zone, a wildlife preserve where people can view rare species in their native habitats.  Besides the zoo, Fuchsia is also home to the Fuchsia Gym, the sixth in the Indigo League. Stop by the Poké Center to the south, and enter the Gym.

Fuchsia Gym
Fuchsia City is the largest city in southern Kanto, located between 18 and 15. To the south, a beach leads to the waters of 19. The northern part of the city is occupied by rare Pokémon exhibits and a nature preserve known as the Safari Zone. Trainers aiming to earn their next Badge can challenge the Fuchsia Gym in the southwest.

The Fuchsia Gym is teeming with Poisons, so make sure to bring Bug-, Ground-, or Poison-types, since they will all have immunity to Koga's poisonous team.  The ninja master has set up invisible walls in his Gym to disorient his challengers, so you'll have to find the open spaces between the walls to find the Gym Leader.

Safari Zone Warden's house
The southeastern house belongs to the Safari Zone Warden. It is difficult to understand what he is saying, but seems to have misplaced his set of Gold Teeth. If you happen to find a set of false teeth, be sure to return it to him.

With the Fuchsia Gym defeated, you've just earned your sixth badge!  The Soul gives you the ability to surf across the water, which allows you to leave the mainland and head for Cinnabar Island by way of the Seafoam Islands a little later. It also gives a slight Defense boost during battle.  Koga gives you 06 as a prize, saying that this technique of the ninjas is over 400 years old.  With your shiny new badge, jump off the ledge to the right of the Poké Center, and visit the Safari Zone Warden's home.

The Warden is a little upset about losing his set of false teeth.  If you find them while hunting in the Safari Zone, return them to the Warden and he'll reward you with 04, perfect for moving the boulder in his house to get the Rare Candy behind it.  Before entering the safari, stop in the house next door and talk to the Fishing Guru inside to get the Fishing. With this, you can finally fish for something other than Magikarp!  Some aquatic species like Poliwag and Goldeen can be found in his backyard pond.
The Fuchsia Gym officially specializes in Poison Pokémon, although there are several Psychic- and Ground Pokémon to be found inside. Poison Pokémon take serious damage from Psychic and Ground moves, while Grass and Bug Pokémon may struggle against them. The Gym Leader is trained in the skills of the ninja, and has installed a series of nearly invisible glass panels to disorient any challengers. Anyone looking to battle the Gym Leader must first find the path between these panels to reach the middle of the room. Koga's team includes only pure Poison-type Pokémon, so Ground and Psychic attacks will be the most effective. Each of his Pokémon can poison their target, so be sure to bring along some Antidotes.

Safari Zone
{| align="center"

|- align="center" valign="top"
The Safari Zone is the city's main tourist attraction. For pdollar500, all Trainers are given 30 Poké Balls and allowed to catch any Pokémon they find. The catch is that you aren't allowed to use your Pokémon to weaken the wild Pokémon first; you are only able to throw a rock or bait before attempting to capture anything. Throwing bait makes a Pokémon less likely to run, but harder to catch; while throwing a rock makes it more likely to run, but easier to catch. Try different combinations to see what works. There are many species roaming the park, and quite a few items, too.  When you run out of Safari Balls or walk 500 steps, the game is over and you'll be warped to the entrance.

Area 1
After the battle, Koga awards you the Soul, which gives your Pokémon a slight Speed boost during battle and enables the use of Surf in the field. As a prize, he also gives you 06, which he claims is a secret ninja technique from over 400 years ago.

There are four items scattered around the second area.  Pick up a Vitamin on the rocky ledge, 37 in the pond, a Potion to the northwest, and a Potion near the rest house. Walk past the rest house and head west.
Safari Zone
For pdollar500, Trainers who visit the Safari Zone are given 30 Safari Balls and allowed to catch any Pokémon they can find. There is a catch: visitors are restricted from using their own Pokémon to weaken the wild Pokémon first. Instead, they may throw either bait or rocks before attempting capture. Throwing bait makes a Pokémon less likely to run, but harder to catch; throwing a rock has the opposite effect. When visitors run out of Safari Balls or walk 500 steps, the game is over.

Climb onto the larger rocky ridge to the south and pick up the Carbos. Head west to reach several patches of tall grass, 37 on the edge of a lake, and a Max Potion to the northwest. Collect the Full Restore near the rest house and take the northeast exit.

Now that you can surf, you can reach the island in the front area to find a Nugget. Back in the city, stop in the Warden's house to return the Gold Teeth.  He rewards you with 04, and teaching this to a sturdy team member like Rhydon or Tauros lets you move those big boulders around. Try it out now, you can get the Rare Candy inside the Warden's home.  Now that you've explored Fuchsia City, fly back to Lavender Town and head south to 12.
Area 2
Go northwest through the tall grass and climb onto the rocky ridge. Head northeast from the three ponds to find 40. Turn west near the rest house to pick up a Protein and follow the path to the southwest exit.

Area 3
Head south to find a set of Gold Teeth, then go west to get 32 before entering the Secret House. It seems that no one else has ventured this deep into the park, so the 03 is yours. Use it on a Water Pokémon, like Gyarados or Lapras, and you can cross the pond to the south to reach a Max Potion and a Max Revive on the way back to the entrance. Otherwise, you can backtrack through the other areas until the timer runs out, which likely will not be much longer.

Route 16

Route 16
Route 17

Route 16 links Celadon City to Route 17. The road southward to Fuchsia City can be dangerous for pedestrians, so be sure to bring a Bicycle.

Fly, Fly Away

Use Cut on the small tree to reach the secluded northern area. Enter the house beyond the gate and speak to the girl inside. She prefers to spend time on her own and gives you HM02 (Fly) to keep her hideaway a secret. Using Fly in the field allows a Trainer to instantly travel to any city or town that had been visited previously.

Roadblock

A Snorlax has fallen asleep near the gate, blocking the path. Use the Poké Flute to wake the Pokémon, which attacks in a grumpy rage! Snorlax are hard to find, so catch it if you can.

Route 17

The bridges of Route 17 pass over the ocean on the way downhill to Route 18. Anyone riding a Bicycle on Cycling Road who decides to stop pedaling will continue rolling southward, unless the A or B Buttons are held.

Route 18

Route 18

Route 18 leads east from Route 17 to Fuchsia City.

Fuchsia City

Fuchsia City

Fuchsia City is the largest city in southern Kanto, located between Route 18 and Route 15. To the south, a beach leads to the waters of Route 19. The northern part of the city is occupied by rare Pokémon exhibits and a nature preserve known as the Safari Zone. Trainers aiming to earn their next Badge can challenge the Fuchsia Gym in the southwest.

Fishing Guru 2

The southeastern-most house belongs to the Fishing Guru's brother. Speak to him to receive a Good Rod. This mid-level fishing rod can reel in a greater variety of water-dwelling Pokémon than the Old Rod. Give it a try at his backyard pond to find Poliwag and Goldeen to add to your collection.

Safari Zone Warden's house

The southeastern house belongs to the Safari Zone Warden. It is difficult to understand what he is saying, but seems to have misplaced his set of Gold Teeth. If you happen to find a set of false teeth, be sure to return it to him.

FUCHSIA CITY POKéMON GYM
LEADER: KOGA

The Poisonous
Ninja Master!

The Fuchsia Gym officially specializes in Poison-type Pokémon, although there are several Psychic- and Ground-type Pokémon to be found inside.

The Soul Badge

After the battle, Koga awards you the Soul Badge, which gives your Pokémon a slight Speed boost during battle and enables the use of Surf in the field. As a prize, he also gives you TM06 (Toxic), which he claims is a secret ninja technique from over 400 years ago.

Safari Zone

For $500, Trainers who visit the Safari Zone are given 30 Safari Balls and allowed to catch any Pokémon they can find.

Entrance

Enter the safari and head to the northeast to reach the second area.

Area 1

Climb onto the larger rocky ridge to the south and pick up the Carbos. Head west to reach several patches of tall grass, TM37 (Egg Bomb) on the edge of a lake, and a Max Potion to the northwest. Collect the Full Restore near the rest house and take the northeast exit.

Area 2

Go northwest through the tall grass and climb onto the rocky ridge. Head northeast from the three ponds to find TM40 (Skull Bash). Turn west near the rest house to pick up a Protein and follow the path to the southwest exit.

Area 3

Head south to find a set of Gold Teeth, then go west to get TM32 (Double Team) before entering the Secret House. It seems that no one else has ventured this deep into the park, so the HM03 (Surf) is yours. Use it on a Water Pokémon, like Gyarados or Lapras, and you can cross the pond to the south to reach a Max Potion and a Max Revive on the way back to the entrance. Otherwise, you can backtrack through the other areas until the timer runs out, which likely will not be much longer.
