HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT. THE PAGE HAS CODING ON IT SO THAT THE TYPE WILL CHANGE RANDOMLY (or not so much, really just according to the time). DON'T ASK WHY ARCEUS IS A WATER-TYPE! It just IS!
(Also keep in mind that it doesn't matter which type it is; you guys are smart, you can tell what moves are STAB for which plate... I hope...)

Hmmm....

Is the color and box from the Tutoring Moveset (I think) supposed to be expanding past the sprite box? I see the Rock type stuff, if that matters. (No, I don't think it is my browser, other Pokémon's pages are still fine) The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 14:13, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

I have fixed it stop the problem was that he closed the time, not the tutor box stopDCM((曲奇饼妖怪Spy on My Edits))

Out of intrest

Has anyone tried to see if Arceus' ??? type forme is in PBR? Zsaberslash 20:52, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

And possibly in Platinum, as well? In a method other than cheating? --Bulbapedian - Talk 20:55, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Picture

Instead of fanart ...shouldn't we use something OFFICIAL even if its just a PBR screenshot, or a sprite --LilRed 00:11, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

The fanart fulfills our needs best. Besides, the official artwork is only a couple of months away now. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 00:32, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
If they'll release an official artwork of Arceus, does it mean that Arceus is officially released also?Palkia38 06:54, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes, this is what it would seem like. It's predicted to be released at a similar time to the next movie. — THE TROM — 06:56, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
How on Earth did whoever drew that picture get it so perfect when the sprite is so tiny? They must have got something wrong surely? Taromon777 19:36, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes, the artist, Seyanni, did get several details wrong from what we now know about the features of Arceus. First of all, the face has two lines running across it, not just one. There are grey triangles on the inside of each of its legs, and the red parts of its eyes have black slits, like Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. In addition, the wheel is more pointed and the green circles he/she drew are actually gems. So, really, like I've said before, this fanart is far from accurate, but now there's really no need to replace it (though I've given the site several months to use my own artwork (http://xous54.deviantart.com/art/Arceus-Final-106548360), which is, of course, more accurate) when Arceus is set to be revealed on the 15th (with a leak anywhere from the 12th to the 14th). (Of course, the Pokémon set to be revealed could also be something else.) Xous 18:16, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Reveal

Looking at Darkrai and Shaymin's, it seems that the reveal will be just around February 14, 2009. Isn't that convenient. So I'd like to notify you all... don't bother with it until then. TTEchidna 06:52, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Actually, it is expected to be leaked today, and officially revealed on January 19.--Mence Master 13:47, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Listen to the Editor-in-Chief. Don't bother until the reveal. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 13:54, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

???-type Explanation Doesn't Make Sense

One of our members brought up a good point about the explanation (in this article) about why Nintendo put the ??? Arceus in the game. We think that it was put in because Nintendo's code for Multitype required a sprite to be filled for every single type. This is our best guess, and I certainly think it's more plausible than "preventing game crashes for hackers." Hackers can crash the game quite easily otherwise - why would they prevent it in one way when we can do it in a thousand other ways? Remember, Nintendo doesn't care for or even acknowledge hackers. -Coolbho3000 00:33, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Following that logic, why put a vestigial Safari Zone in GSC? Why make it harder to access MissingNo in Yellow and impossible in FrLg? Like it or not, Nintendo has put many things in for the purpose of preventing crashes. Kiryu 04:59, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Animated sprite.

It doesn't change for me. It's just the regular Arceus. --ケンジガール 00:57, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

you maam are using Internet Explorer. that is an animated .png, which your browser does not support. -- MAGNEDETH 00:59, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Don't you think that's a little unfair for people who prefer to user IE? What's wrong with just using a gif file? --ケンジガール 01:02, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
lesser quality. take it up with TTE. -- MAGNEDETH 01:03, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
You should use Firefox. D: -Sketch 01:05, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
I have used it and I hated it. It made my computer move incredibly slow. --ケンジガール 01:16, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
How many addons did you give it? That's usually what kills it. I mean, mine's running using 118,784K, next most is Windows Explorer with not even 10% of that much. It's a given with the 13 extensions I have for it... Anyway, Opera's most recent release supports anipngs too, or so I've heard. Given, I plan to make that specific spritecycle a gif again, since the whole point of that is to animate. Other anipngs you don't lose much with them being not animated. TTEchidna 01:35, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Google chrome doesn't accept anipngs, and firefox takes an age to start up for me. I also hate IE. Lord of Origami 11:28, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
It works on opera just fine, Who uses IE nowadays anyway? And Mozilla's slow.... too slow.--FF(edits-talk) 11:52, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Anyway, I recommend you try Opera, if you haven't done so. It's light, fast, simple to use, secure, stable, complete and free so you don't have to worry. And it'll still work with Windows 98. XD Besides, it's MS's fault for not giving better support for web standards 'cause it's "cooler" to use their own. Pokemon lover 18:45, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

???-type arceus existance

If anyone can hack platinum and try changing arceus' type to ???-type and it appears then its existance is official, anybody care and try?--Nobody777 12:22, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

origin

there is a legend in arab myths that says that god created a horse from the north wind and it was the frist being on earth, arceus is a horse and the first Pokémon in existance, should we add this to the origin part in the article?--Nobody777 13:29, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

...

I saw this likely vandalism in the tivia section:

At level 80, Arceus is the second highest level non-glitch Pokémon available for capture. The highest is Magikarp which can be caught at level 100 in Pokémon Platinum. It is, however, still the highest level legendary Pokémon available for capture.

I am hoping this is a joke or vandalism.

Alakazam 2

Check Magikarp's article. It's a legit piece of trivia. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 07:04, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I'll answer. That's not necessary to say. Besides, it's speculation. -Sketch 20:12, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Type-change grammar

Due to the special coding for Multitype, if the page changes to Electric or Ice, the grammar in the article becomes incorrect, displaying as "a Electric-type" or "a Ice-type". Since I have no idea how the coding works, and the fact that the page is protected anyway, would it be possible for someone to fix that bit of grammar on the Zap and Icicle versions of the page?

A minor error, but an error nonetheless. βetA ZerØ 03:34, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Typer effectiveness box for ??? type

Considering the the ??? type can show up at random on this page should a type effectiveness box show up for it too? Jmvb 16:23, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

I guess I could do it. I don't know the numbers though, ar all types just normal effective?--MisterE13 16:27, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
??? has no strengths and weaknesses; all types are normal. Learned this from Weather Ball and Shadow Sky. βetA ZerØ 16:50, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Just remembered that the page is protected so I can't actually change it. LOL!--MisterE13 18:44, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Don't bother. One, there's no way to access ??? Arceus, so it doesn't matter, and two, the type effectiveness of anything against the ???-type is NORMAL DAMAGE. TTEchidna 05:48, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Arceus to be in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky!

Hi everybody, I just got information from Serebii.net today confirming Arceus will appear in the game as well as several other things as well. English Pokémon Platinum Pokédex Entry.

The anglish Pokémon Platinum Pokédex Entry has been confirmed as "It is said to have emerged from an egg in a place where there was nothing, then shaped the world. " May someone edit the page to include this? ~m190049~talk 20:43, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Talk page glitch

I noticed when Arceus' page is ???-Type, the message on the top of the page says "DON'T ASK WHY ARCEUS IS A NORMAL-TYPE! It just IS!", incorrectly... ~m190049~talk 20:48, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

It's because it changes on the second you access the page. Since you accessed the talk page on a different second than the article, it's different. If you go on the page and wait exactly 18 seconds (or a multiple thereof) then check here it should be good.--MisterE13 20:54, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

US Platinum dex entry/page unlock

Can someone please unlock the page so that the English Platinum Dex entry can be added? And why was it even locked in the first place? Frugali 12:13, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Because of the upcoming movie and some impatient users. --Prongs (TalkContributions) 12:15, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
I you want, you can just add the entry here so that once admins are around, they could place it in the article. Kevzo8 12:16, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Someone already posted the Dex entry above me, but I guess I'll just copypaste it: It is said to have emerged from an egg in a place where there was nothing, then shaped the world. And yes, I would want an admin to put it in if it's going to remain locked until the movie's release. Frugali 12:19, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Arceus (Japanese: アルセウス Arceus) is a Normal-type legendary Pokémon.

It is currently the final Pokémon in the National Pokédex. Like Darkrai and Shaymin before it, Arceus was not "officially" a Pokémon recognized by Nintendo until February 2009, the year of its debut movie, appearing as a feature in the March issue of CoroCoro.

Arceus is known as "The Original One," as it is said that it created the Pokémon universe and the lake and dragon trios. The only known way to get Arceus is with the Azure Flute. it is not known to evolve into or from any pokemon. in D/P/Pt, it can change colors.

Due to special coding in place on this page to illustrate Arceus's wildcard ability, Multitype, all type-themed appearances will display Arceus as if it has been hacked, therefore being a ???-type. This does not affect anything besides which sprites are shown, which moves are noted as STAB and the type effectiveness entry which is unhidden. Click here to change the type.

Biology Physiology Arceus is an equine being similar to a Qilin or Centaur. Its body is white with a gray underside, and its four pointed feet are tipped with gold hooves. Its mane is quite long and its face is gray with green eyes with red pupils. It also has a golden cross-like wheel attached to its body, which changes color along with its eyes and hooves based on Arceus's current type. The wheel also has four jewels attached to it.

Gender differences Arceus is genderless.

Special abilities

An animation displaying Arceus's different colorings while holding platesAccording to legend, Arceus created the universe, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and the lake trio.

While Arceus is normally a pure Normal-type, it has the ability to change its type and appearance when in contact with special plates.

Arceus also has the unique ability to call down shots of light on its foes. Arceus can also use many attacks of various types, but to a lesser extent than Smeargle or Mew.

Behavior Habitat Arceus lives at the Hall of Origin which can only be accessed by use of the Azure Flute at Spear Pillar.

Diet Main article: Pokémon food In the anime Arceus will make its debut in Arceus: To a Conquering Spacetime. In it, it will fight against the dragon trio.

In the manga Arceus has not made any manga appearances yet.

In the TCG Main article: Arceus (TCG) Arceus appears in the TCG in all nine elemental types, and a player can have as many Arceus cards in their deck as they like, unlike all other cards in the game (besides Basic Energy cards). Cards based on Arceus first appeared in the Advent Arceus expansion.

Learnset Arceus is capable of learning the following moves:

Moves in bold get STAB for the ???-type, meaning that Arceus has been hacked. Judgment, the type of which is dependent on the plate Arceus is holding (or lack thereof) will always receive STAB, while damaging moves of other types can receive STAB depending on which plate Arceus holds.

Trivia

Normal-color sprite for ???-type Arceus Alternate-color sprite for ???-type ArceusAt level 80, Arceus is the second highest level non-glitch Pokémon available for capture. The highest is Magikarp which can be caught at level 100 in Pokémon Platinum. It is, however, still the highest level legendary Pokémon available for capture. In its base form, Arceus has the highest base stat in Defense of all Normal-type Pokémon. Arceus's base stat total is 720, higher than any other Pokémon. Previous Pokémon, among them Mewtwo, have only had a maximum total of 680. Arceus has the highest base experience yield of all Pokémon, tied with Happiny, Chansey, and Blissey. That means an Arceus would yield 13,933 experience points when defeated if it is at level 100 and belongs to a Trainer. The code for Diamond and Pearl has sprites for Arceus using its Multitype ability with all 18 types, including ???-type. It is disputed whether the ???-type Arceus is obtainable, as there is no plate in the code that can be used for this. It is possible this sprite was programmed in to prevent game crashes caused by tampering with Arceus's type. Arceus's signature move, Judgment, is the only move that Arceus is guaranteed STAB for, as it is always the same type as Arceus itself. However, on the battle screen, Judgment is always displayed as a Normal-type attack. Even though it is said that Arceus created the world with its thousand arms, it is not shown to have any arms at all. Holding the Sky Plate, Arceus is the only Pokémon able to become a pure Flying-type outside of battle (other Pokémon can be in battle through the use of Conversion, Conversion 2, and Color Change). With the appropriate plate, Arceus is the only legendary Poison-, Bug-, or Fighting-type Pokémon. Arceus has its own unique battle music when it is encountered. It shares this trait with Deoxys, as well as Giratina (in Platinum only). Earth Power is the only move with a fixed base power, besides Judgment, that Arceus learns by level-up which can receive STAB with a plate attached. Origin Arceus may be a reference to the Chinese mythical creature, the Qilin. Its myth is nearly identical to that of the Pangu, the Chinese creation deity.

Arceus may also be inspired by (or a representation of) Avalokiteśvara who, in Buddhism, is either pictured with eleven heads and one thousand arms (the latter of which is mentioned in Arceus's flavor text) or in a white four-armed manifestation (which could look similar to Arceus's Normal form).

Some inspiration may have come from a horse, because of its Platinum sprite and attack movements in Pokémon Battle Revolution.

Name origin Arceus's name may come from the words arch (highest) and deus, which is Latin and Greek for god. It may also have a root in the Latin word arcanus, which means secret; sacred mystery.

Arceus's name may also come from the word archaic (ancient), which comes from the Greek arkhaios, and is derived from the ancient Greek word for "beginning", arkhē. It could have also come from the Latin word archetypus (original). Alternatively, Arceus's name can be seen as a portmanteau of Zeus, the most powerful of Greek gods and arch (highest).
