Ricard Nouveau (Japanese: ピノ・ノワール Pinot Noir) is an A-class Pokémon Connoisseur and the character of the day in Clash of the Connoisseurs!. He was chosen along with Cilan by Mr. Hatterly to help choose a Pokémon for his daughter, Marigold. Ricard believed that the perfect Pokémon for her would be Petilil because of its scent and cuteness. Cilan disagreed with him, thinking that a half Grass-type would be more suitable rather than a pure one. Since they couldn't agree, the two Connoisseurs decided to have a battle to see who was right. Ricard ended up losing the battle.
He reappeared in a flashback in Survival of the Striaton Gym!, with Cilan remembering the battle they had as one of the many he had during his travels.

Purrloin is Ricard's "Premium Brand" Pokémon. It battled Cilan's Crustle to determine which Pokémon Marigold would use. In the beginning of the battle, it surprised Cilan with its speed, but still lost relatively quickly due to Crustle using a combination of Shell Smash and Rock Wrecker.
It reappeared in a flashback in Survival of the Striaton Gym!.
Purrloin's known moves are Sand Attack, Fury Swipes, and Night Slash.
