Mantyke (Japanese: タマンタ Tamanta) is a Generation IV Pokémon first revealed in March 2006 alongside Buizel and Chatot, appearing in the movie Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea.

- Mantyke's US name was revealed on 21st January 2007, one day after Dialga and Palkia's US names were revealed.
- Mantyke is the only Pokémon so far that needs another Pokémon to be in the party in order to evolve it.
- It is the second heaviest baby Pokémon behind Munchlax.
Origin
Mantyke is based on a baby manta ray.
Name origin
- Mantyke is a combination of manta and tyke, a word sometimes used to described a child.
- It's Japanese name, Tamanta, is a combination of tama, the Japanese word for ball, and manta.
