Route 46 is a route in eastern Johto. Though it is one of the last numbered routes in Johto, its southern end can actually be accessed via Route 29 early in the game.

Route description

Early in the game, players can only access the southern part of the route, below the ledges that can be jumped over. However, later in the game, if Route 45 is used to return to New Bark Town instead of the move Fly, players will start off to the east of one of the three entrances to Dark Cave, from which they must either travel through the cave or jump down the ledges to get anywhere.
