I've seen them turn up on eBay now and again so maybe we can at least find out the episode listings or something. The movies would be good, I'm thinking for now we should just make one page for all the Quebec French releases rather than making separate pages. So the movies could go under their own heading, like:

Ash's Pikachu (EToP) & Winona's Altaria

I believe User:Pattyman/Ash's Pikachu (EToP) and User:Pattyman/Winona's Altaria are ready to be checked if they can be placed in the mainspace. The former is an important character in the Electric Tale of Pikachu with Ash's also having the separate article while the latter has been involved in a lot in Pokémon Adventures aside from being Winona's signature Pokémon and appearing in the anime and games. New template for the manga sections

I sent a message to Ataro asking him if this template (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Bulbapedia:Sandbox#Epichar) was ready to go into the manga rounds, but you just logged in, so I figured out, why not ask you? ^~^

I would start adding them as soon as you validate it and give me the go.

I haven't had a chance to research the mysterious CD because I've been busy with my job and other things ^^' I will get to it when I can. Unfortunately, we've reviewed that template in the past (it's been on the sandbox for a while) and we've determined it isn't really needed at this time. It ultimately doesn't add anything substantial to the pages (plain text communicates the information perfectly fine) and between anime and manga articles, there would be well over 1000 pages that it would affect, so we would rather invest more focus on other, higher-priority projects, mainly adding new content as opposed to redecorating existing content. it's okay, we all have a real life. :p but adding this template would add so much quality to the wiki since it's compact and sweet for the eyes. If this would happen, I would personally work on adding them, so you guys can concentrate on other things. And that's weird to me, since everytime I try to add new stuff it gets deleted for "unotability". Like, do you guys even want new stuff being added or what? Is it just me that doesn't understand something or what? Sadly, I am now only wandering the wiki, refreshing the recent changes page without knowing what to do. I really, really have motivation. Well, the template mentioned upthread is purely aesthetic - it's not actually adding any new information to the article, just presenting it differently. The fact of the matter is there is lots to do... but you specifically told me you weren't interested in the wanted pages and you didn't seem really interested when I mentioned the Manga to-do list or other similar projects (Articles needing improvement, etc.) these are really the things that we need the most. Your manga plot summaries were good and that is an area we have very few contributors in - are you no longer interested in doing those? There are 890 articles with incomplete plot summaries, including anime episodes. We have many editors who like working on character articles, but there are some that still could use some help, particularly for more obscure series. I'm also still interested in starting a page for those Quebec French VHS tapes - I have five or six of them myself, but I've put it to the back burner because content that is not in English or Japanese is generally lower priority, but I did plan to make it one day, so if you are willing to help, that opportunity is still open too. That's just a short-term project though - the longer-term stuff is adding summaries (which there is a high reader demand for), keeping up on volume releases and chapter/round article creation, that sort of tedious stuff. Researching old merchandise and documenting it. It's tedious, sure, but that's the true backbone of the manga section. I see little value in adding templates to change the look of the pages when so many manga pages look like this. --ZestyCactus 03:35, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Pokémon Adventures

I don't know if you can read Korean but I thought you might be interested. Not sure if you want an official site, but if you search 포켓몬스터 스페셜 on this website, a list of Korean Pokémon Adventures releases will come up. The website is Kyobo books (a well known book store, so reliable?). I know nothing about the manga and I don't have the time to invest in editing for it, but I'll leave it here if you're willing to do it. Hey. You asked that same question to me almost two years ago. I don't know what Zesty's opinion is, but mine is that Sunbo is still not notable enough for an article. Ataro (talk) 15:38, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
I will have to back Ataro up on this one and pass on mainspacing. Sunbo has multiple appearances but the majority of them are fairly minor and not critical to the advancement of the plot. The notable stuff, such as her participation in the Pokéathlon, can easily be added to her section on Gold's page. Also, she doesn't really have a lot of significant character development for herself or drive character development for Gold. --ZestyCactus 06:22, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Crystal's starter

I was looking at the Manual of style/Manga/Manga Pokémon notability policy page and noticed that it says "Starter Pokémon that are owned by any of the main characters (Such as any Pokédex holder, Wally, Cheren, and Bianca) are all notable, provided they have appeared in more than one chapter/round. If they have not met this criteria, then they would have to have a significant impact on the plot of the chapter/round, manga series as a whole, or a certain arc." Through flashbacks we have seen that Smoochum is her starter, so should it get its own page?--Rahl (talk) 05:44, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

I don't really think that's necessary. The existing page could be expanded to include information about their roles as individuals (which are pretty minor). Alternatively the page could be converted to "Legendary birds (Adventures)" with a section on their combined role as Thu-Fi-Zer (which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, since the page is at a Japanese name). But I definitely don't believe that there's enough information to warrant two separate pages. One is good enough. --ZestyCactus 03:44, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

Pokémon Adventures

Hey Zesty! I was looking more into the Korean manga and I found out that the link I referenced before (this) seems to have updated their stuff and now if you search 포켓몬스터 스페셜, more than one version comes up, each with different ISBN numbers, and released at different dates (and different prices). Volumes 1-25 seem to have gotten 3 different versions, and 26-36 seem to have had 2 versions. Do these count as different editions (due to their different ISBN) or is more confirmation required? Also, the dates for the older versions of these volumes seem to match (roughly) with other websites usually within the same month. So should I update the pages with the release date according to the above website or write only the month? --Wowy(토크) 06:02, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

What years were the three editions published in? Another user mentioned the multiple ISBNs to me a long time ago, but I could never make sense of it. Do they have different cover artworks? I wonder if the translation is different (I doubt it). Thanks for helping me with this ^^' what do you think?

I'm quite confused too :S, but this is what information I could get:
Using Pokémon Special volume 1 as an example, the 'first edition' was published on 25/8/1999 with an ISBN of 9788984423763(8984423769). The 'second edition' was published on 20/5/2010 with an ISBN of 9788925230207(8925230208). The 'third edition' was published on 19/7/2011 with an ISBN of 9788925284156(8925284154).
For some volumes up to volume 19, I can notice that certain 1st edition covers differ from the subsequent editions (2nd and 3rd editions have the same cover), but only slightly. For instance, for Pokémon Special volume 1, the edition published in 1999 has a different background, and the word 한국어판 (Korean edition) is below the 포켓몬스터 logo, while the newer editions have a plain red background with the word 한국어판 at the top of the cover. Pokémon Special volume 14 has the most obvious difference in the cover art as it has the number 14 written in a different place. However, despite the difference in covers and ISBN, I suspect they are just repackaged differently but have the same translation (as you suspect as well). I'm not too familiar with manga, but to constitute as a new edition, does it require an updated translation (or just merely different ISBN)?
In terms of the source, Kyobo books is the largest book chain store in Korea. I think it's probably the most reliable source since the Daewon CI site has been down for a while. The other website I was checking was this. The dates are mostly the same between the two websites. And is there any way we could get official confirmation on these (email?)

Just to add, according to the Pokémon in South Korea page at least the first 14 volumes are flipped to read the Western way, but the manga has since been unflipped to be the same as the Japanese ones. Just a thought, but I think the old 1st edition volumes are the ones which were flipped to read the Western way, and the newer editions are the ones which are unflipped. I've been looking at scans of the manga online and up to volume 21 (at least) I've seen flipped ones which correlate with the old style cover art, which supports this theory. The dates and ISBN numbers also match which helps. I can't find scans of the newer editions though to check if they are unflipped like the Japanese ones.

Ohhhhh you know what the flipped/unflipped theory makes sense. Aren't Korean comics normally written in a left-to-right reading format? So it makes sense that they would want to flip them in the olden days. It reminds me of how Tokyopop did Peach Girl (starting from volume 9, they did it unflipped, and then published new unflipped editions of 1-8 later to match).
Anyway, I would just add them as first/second/third editions for now. If the cover artwork is identical, you can just repeat it. :P --ZestyCactus 01:40, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Snor

Is the page User:FinnishPokéFan92/Snor ready to be mainspaced? I know it isn't as prominent as some of Red's other Pokemon, but I think its appearance in multiple medias makes it important enough.--Rahl (talk) 02:10, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

I've discussed this with other members of the Editorial Board and we've actually decided to eliminate the Origins and game-related sections from Red and Blue's pages, as they are distinct characters from the game characters Red and Blue. They are cross-canon counterparts, sure, but they are too distinct to mix their Pokémon's information together. (It's not the same as regular Gym Leaders, who usually use pretty much the same Pokémon everywhere and mostly for battling). At the most, I'd suggest linking to the game characters' pages for more information on some same Pokémon used between the two (for example, Ash's Pikachu linking to Red's Pikachu). Fortunately, we still think the Snor article is mainspaceable on just the basis of Adventures-related content (I think there may be a few more appearances that could be mentioned to expand the article, though: for example, the first two moves in the list are from rounds not mentioned in the body of the article). So that's pretty much it. (As an aside, did you check with FPF92 about the article being submitted for approval? He is still active, and ideally, the article's creator should be the one submitting it for approval.) --ZestyCactus 03:45, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

One thing that is noticeable right now is Viz is obviously dividing their mini-volumes into 2 separate volumes with 3 and then 4 chapters each. Well, actually, Ataro is the Head of Manga — he took my old spot when I was promoted to Deputy Editor-in-Chief. However, since I am the former Head of Manga (so I would consider myself somewhat of an expert on the subject...), you're not wrong to contact me if you didn't get a reply from Ataro. :P
Anyway, I'd still like to discuss the situation with Kogoro, but I haven't had a chance yet, so it may be another day or two before I can give you a final decision. Since FinnishPokéFan92's article was made first, we may end up combining the articles (along with the history, so you'll both get credit). Just wanted to give you a heads up and let you know I haven't forgotten about this ^^'
Lastly, just a friendly reminder that all mainspaceable userspace pages should be tagged with {{Mainspace}}, and should not be categorized in any regular categories (such as Red's Pokémon). This ensures it only appears in either Candidates for mainspacing and Candidates for mainspacing/Under construction. We don't want anyone searching by categories to find an incomplete or unapproved page mixed in with the proper ones :P categories may be hidden with those funky arrows in the character palette below the editing window (<!--[[Category:Example]]-->) so that when the page is mainspaced, all we have to do is remove the arrows and it's good to go. I actually recommend using the Mainspace tag as it flags articles for staff review and also helps other users know which pages are being worked on. If in doubt, you can always use the "under construction" version if you're not ready for it to be reviewed for mainspaceability. If anything, if the article isn't up to standard, by having it tagged it'll be easier for us to know it's there and offer advice for improvement if the subject is notable but the article itself needs improvement. --ZestyCactus 03:53, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

Alright, so I've discussed the situation with Kogoro and the plan now is to mainspace FinnishPokéFan's article, since it was there first and has more information. (Since your page was made with pre-existing knowledge of the other WIP page, unfortunately they won't be merged, but obviously you are free to edit the existing page once it's mainspaced.) Sorry to keep you waiting for a response. Just keep in mind for next time, even if a page has gone a while without being mainspaced, it's still a candidate unless a specific reason has been given for it to not be mainspaced (non-notability, poor quality, etc). Most users allow others to help them with their draft pages (after all, they do want it to be complete and high-quality enough to become a main content article, which anyone may edit anyway), although if they are still active you can always ask them for permission if you're not sure or they haven't specifically stated that anyone may edit their page. --ZestyCactus 06:18, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

Regarding uploaded images of traps and tiles in Gates to Infinity

I know this is not part of Generation VI, but rather Generation V. As Masatoshi pointed out to me, I apparently have to get permission to upload Nintendo 3DS game screenshots or any kind of images, models or sprites. Earlier, I thought it only applied to Generation VI games, since it said so in the message, but I think it needs to be made more clear by saying "all Nintendo 3DS games, not just Generation VI" so that others don't make the same decision that I did, which was uploading them before getting permission. You're more than welcome to take a look at the traps that I took from the screenshots that I did from in-game from Gates to Infinity from my capture card. Hi! I do apologize for the confusing wording on the message, I agree that it was pretty unclear and I am glad to see it has been updated. It's not so much that it's from Generation VI specifically, but that it's from the 3DS, which is harder to obtain screenshots from than previous systems. Since not everyone can be bothered to obtain and master the tools needed for these screenshots, we have to ask for confirmation just to ensure that you're really making the screenshots yourself and not taking them from some other source without the original screenshotter's permission. Having said that, I'm sorry to bug you, but you don't happen to have X/Y or OR/AS, do you? Normally, for confirmation, we ask for a specific Pokémon to be caught and given a specific nickname. As you can imagine it's harder to have criteria like this for a Mystery Dungeon game, so for simplicity, I can confirm you from one of those games and then you'll be free to upload all your Mystery Dungeon screenshots. :) Thanks for your understanding in this matter! --ZestyCactus 03:18, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

As for main series games, I have Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, but I mainly use X and Omega Ruby. Sorry that I took so long. I ran into some issues with my 3DS NAND (since I was using 4.5 sysNAND, and the 6.0.x save encryption on Pokémon X couldn't activate on my emuNAND). But I fixed the issue by restoring a 9.2 sysNAND backup from two years ago, so it's all good now. Anyways, here's several screenshots of me catching and verifying the Flabébé: [41] [42] [43] [44] [45] [46] [47] [48] [49] [50] [51] As for Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, I've come across a big discovery. The game uses a much more newer type of save encryption. So that means that if I use it on my hacked 3DS (which is the one that has 3DS Capture on it), it will mean that the game will complain and say that it's corrupted. Even playing it with a sysNAND at 9.2 will still have the same issues. So either I'll wait until there's support for newer 3DS firmware versions, or I could start over on a new save, completely separate from the one that I've got on the game card itself and take screenshots that way. Just so you know, I do some research into game data on ROM images too. So if I learn more about extracting carc. packages and all that, then I could be able to dwelve deeper into seeing what levels the enemy Pokémon are at, as well as the percentages they can appear at too.—Platinum Lucario (talk) 23:31, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

Okay, cool. You don't happen to know if Imavision released any other story arcs (i.e. Orange Islands, Johto Journeys) or just the Indigo League? I think this is going to be the most similar page to what this project will be (ignoring the "Boxed sets" section, since I don't think there is one), since the DVD and VHS have different episode listings (the DVD I have has five episodes on it as opposed to three per VHS). I'm not too sure if it'll be entirely complete but we can at least start it with the volumes we have.
So basically, for this page we will need:
  • Scanned images of all tapes and DVDs that we can access
  • Barring that, stock artwork of covers from reputable retail sites such as Amazon are okay, but not images taken from other fan sites (if we have to, we can leave the pictures blank)
  • All the volumes we know about for sure, need to be placed in chronological order (from oldest to newest). If there are any missing volumes in between, we need to know how many there are (if possible) and research them online (if possible). I'm wondering if Imavision has a web site that may be archived on web.archive.org, this would be ideal if we can find an archived listing of what volumes they released
    • As a last resort, we can write to them and ask for a listing, but they may not be able to help us because it's so old (I did have some success writing to Chuang Yi about manga releases before they went out of business. VIZ Media, on the other hand, sent me my own incomplete article when I asked for more information!)
    • At any rate, if nothing else, we can still make a partial article just based on the stuff that we already own.
If you want, you can go ahead and start an article in your userspace. I think you have all the same volumes as me (minus the DVD) but if you need the catalogue numbers or anything just let me know and I'll add them. Feel free to use my previous articles as examples. :P
Also, let me know if you happen to know if there are more releases beyond Indigo League and the movies or just those ones. Depending how many there are we may be able to fit all the Quebec releases on one page :P --ZestyCactus 04:28, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

Oh, that's really weird because the catalogue number is IMAV-0013. But I got out the tape just now and it does say 0014. Is there another tape with a catalogue number IMAV-0013? What a weird error. We're not making individual articles for each tape - that's why we have these list articles. Each French title of each tape should have an English translation, like those novels I linked to upthread (see under "title"). Also, volume 13 (the real IMAV-0013 lol) is in a clamshell case, not a paper sleeve, right? Seems like at some point they switched from sleeves to clamshells and the clamshell case tapes have four episodes, not three. That should be good, though remember episode titles are italicized. ^^ we'll have to look online and see if we can find any more information about the other tapes. I've seen them turn up on eBay now and again so maybe we can at least find out the episode listings or something. The movies would be good, I'm thinking for now we should just make one page for all the Quebec French releases rather than making separate pages. So the movies could go under their own heading, like:
