As for the roadblock, use the Poké Flute to rouse Snorlax from its nap. It wakes up on a foul mood, and attacks!  There are only two in the whole region; the other blocks the way south of Lavender Town. Catch it if you can!

Fishing Guru #2
Jump the ledge near the Pokémon Center and enter the southeastern house to meet the local Fishing Guru. Like the one in Vermilion City, he also gives you a fishing rod. The I can hook water-dwelling Pokémon besides Magikarp. A few aquatic species like Poliwag and Goldeen can be found in his backyard pond.

The Fuchsia Gym is teeming with Poison Pokémon. Psychic attacks are useful against the few Arbok, and Grass or Water moves can take out the few Sandslash. As for the dozen or so Psychic-type Pokémon, only Bug moves like Twineedle or Pin Missile are super-effective against them, so you may need to rely on brute force to clear them out. The ninja master has set up glass walls in his Gym to disorient his challengers, forcing you to find the open spaces between the walls to find the path to the Gym Leader.

Six Gym Leaders down, two to go!  The Soul gives you the ability to surf across bodies of water, which will soon allow you to leave the Kanto mainland for the islands in the southwest. It also gives a slight Defense boost during battle. Koga gives you 06 as a prize, a secret ninja technique that he claims is over 400 years old.

The Warden
The Warden
The Warden is a little distraught about losing his set of I. If you find them while hunting in the Safari Zone, be sure to return them to him to receive 04 as a reward!  Teaching this to a sturdy Pokémon like Rhydon or Tauros lets you move those big boulders around. Try it out on the rock inside the Warden's home to reach the Vitamin behind it.

The Kanto is the city's main tourist attraction. For pdollar500, each Trainer is given thirty Safaris and allowed to catch any Pokémon they find. The drawback is that visitors are restricted from using their own Pokémon to weaken the wild Pokémon first. Instead, you may throw either bait or rocks before attempting capture. Throwing bait makes a Pokémon less likely to run, but harder to catch; throwing a rock has the opposite effect. When you run out of Safari Balls or walk 500 steps, the game is over.

If you do, you can find a Potion and a Revive on the way east to the park's entrance. Otherwise, you can backtrack and wander through some tall grass until the timer runs out, which likely won't be much longer.

Cycling Road

Route 16
Route 17

The path that connects Celadon City to Fuchsia City—Routes 16, 17, and 18—is also known as Cycling Road, a favorite hangout spot for Bikers. Aside from a few battles, the ride southward is pretty easy. Bring your Bicycle, or you will not be allowed on the slope.

Route 16

Cut down the tree near the north gate to reach a secluded area. Enter the house on the other side, and a reclusive girl will give you HM02 (Fly) to keep her hideaway a secret. Teach that to something like Pidgeot or Fearow in order to visit any familiar town in seconds!

As for the roadblock, use the Poké Flute to rouse Snorlax from its nap. It wakes up on a foul mood, and attacks! There are only two in the whole region; the other blocks the way south of Lavender Town. Catch it if you can!

Route 17

It's all downhill to Fuchsia City! To hit the brakes on your bike, hold down the A or B Buttons. Roll south down the hill to reach Route 18.

Route 18

Route 18

Turn to the east and ride to the gate. Upstairs, a kid is looking to trade his Lickitung for a Slowbro. Battle the three Bird Keepers south of the gate for some quick cash before heading east.

Fuchsia City

Fuchsia City

Fuchsia City is home to the Fuchsia Gym, the sixth in the Indigo League. On the north side of town, the Safari Zone is a wildlife preserve where visitors can view rare Pokémon in their native habitats.

Poké Mart

Fishing Guru #2

Jump the ledge near the Pokémon Center and enter the southeastern house to meet the local Fishing Guru. Like the one in Vermilion City, he also gives you a fishing rod. The Good Rod can hook water-dwelling Pokémon besides Magikarp. A few aquatic species like Poliwag and Goldeen can be found in his backyard pond.

LEADER: KOGA

The Poisonous
Ninja Master!

The Fuchsia Gym is teeming with Poison-type Pokémon. Psychic-type attacks are useful against the few Arbok, and Grass or Water moves can take out the few Sandslash.

Fuchsia Gym
The Soul Badge

Six Gym Leaders down, two to go! The Soul Badge gives you the ability to surf across bodies of water, which will soon allow you to leave the Kanto mainland for the islands in the southwest. It also gives a slight Defense boost during battle. Koga gives you TM06 (Toxic) as a prize, a secret ninja technique that he claims is over 400 years old.

The Warden

The Warden is a little distraught about losing his set of Gold Teeth. If you find them while hunting in the Safari Zone, be sure to return them to him to receive HM04 (Strength) as a reward! Teaching this to a sturdy Pokémon like Rhydon or Tauros lets you move those big boulders around. Try it out on the rock inside the Warden's home to reach the Rare Candy behind it.

Safari Zone

Safari Zone, Entrance
Safari Zone, Area 1
Safari Zone, Area 2
Safari Zone, Area 3

The Safari Zone is the city's main tourist attraction. For $500, each Trainer is given thirty Safari Balls and allowed to catch any Pokémon they find.

Entrance

Step inside the safari and head to the northeast to enter the second area, Area 1.

Area 1

There are four items scattered around the second area. Pick up a Carbos on the rock platform, TM37 (Egg Bomb) in the pond, a Max Potion to the northwest, and a Full Restore near the rest house. Walk past the rest house and head west.

Area 2

Go all the way to the west, then head north through the tall grass and climb onto the rock platform. From here, follow the sideways S-bend westward to reach the northern section. Pass through two more patches of tall grass and pick up TM40 (Skull Bash). After looping past the rest house, grab the Protein and follow the path around to the southwest.

Area 3

In the final area, head south to find the Warden's Gold Teeth! Walk to the west to find TM32 (Double Team), and enter the Secret House. It seems that no one else has ventured this deep into the park, so the HM03 is yours. Teach it to something like Gyarados or Lapras, and you can cross the pond to the south. If you do, you can find a Max Potion and a Max Revive on the way east to the park's entrance. Otherwise, you can backtrack and wander through some tall grass until the timer runs out, which likely won't be much longer.

After exploring Fuchsia City, fly back to Lavender Town and head south to Route 12.
