In the rock shelter behind the Tohjo Falls, Misty gasps as Legendary beasts (Adventures) appears before her. Suicune immediately begins to attack, knocking Misty away with a Headbutt. Misty responds by calling out her Lanturn to use Hydro Pump. Suicune counters with its own Hydro Pump, blasting Misty and Lanturn into the waterfall. Suicune looks over the waterfall to see that Lanturn is keeping Misty afloat. Misty, with her proud declaration as an expert of the Water, accepts Suicune's challenge.

On the Johto side of the falls, Brock and Erika are on the former's Onix looking for Misty. Erika receives a message on her Pokégear and finds out that a series of exhibition gamees have been agreed between the Kanto and Johto Gym Leaders as part of the introduction to the upcoming Pokémon League tournament. Brock and Erika then see water being blasted out through the waterfall and realize that Misty is having a battle. They then see Misty and her opponent appearing to fall into the waterfall again, with the latter shooting another round of water that hits Onix.

Misty, who finds herself under the water at the base of the Tohjo Falls, suddenly clutches her head. Through Starmie, she finds out what Suicune is communicating to her, and is surprised to learn that Suicune has deemed her worthy of something. Suicune adds the reason for choosing Misty - she is not only a Water-type expert but also has compassion for life. Misty decides to accept Suicune's companionship.

Misty finally emerges above the water to get on Onix with Brock and Erika. Misty sheepishly gives nothing away when asked by Brock about what she battled. Erika then shows her the message the Pokémon Association sent to the Gym Leaders, and Misty becomes excited at the prospect of facing one of her Johto counterparts. Erika states that she will captain the Kanto Gym Leaders and Pryce will be in charge of the Johto Gym Leaders. As the trio resume their journey to Goldenrod City, Suicune is in one of Misty's Great Balls, at peace for the first time in a while.

In the rock shelter behind the Tohjo Falls, Misty gasps as Suicune appears before her. Suicune immediately begins to attack, knocking Starmie away with a Headbutt. Misty responds by calling out her Lanturn to use Hydro Pump. Suicune counters with its own Hydro Pump, blasting Misty and Lanturn into the waterfall. Suicune looks over the waterfall to see that Lanturn is keeping Misty afloat. Misty, with her proud declaration as an expert of the Water-type, accepts Suicune's challenge.

On the Johto side of the falls, Brock and Erika are on the former's Onix looking for Misty. Erika receives a message on her Pokégear and finds out that a series of exhibition matches have been agreed between the Kanto and Johto Gym Leaders as part of the introduction to the upcoming Pokémon League tournament.

Erika states that she will captain the Kanto Gym Leaders and Pryce will be in charge of the Johto Gym Leaders. As the trio resume their journey to Goldenrod City, Suicune is in one of Misty's Great Balls, at peace for the first time in a while.
