Regice, Registeel and Regirock

Legendary golems is the collective term used to refer to the trio of Registeel, Regice, and Regirock. They are also known as the Regi trio or just the Regis.

Unlike previous trios, the golems share much more similar names; additionally, their types are estranged from the standard Fire, Water/Ice and Electric trio. However, similarly to the previous two, they have a master, Regigigas, released in a generation one later than the one they were introduced in, like the legendary birds.

All of the Regi Pokémon are single-types and vulnerable to Template:Type2 attacks. They also all have seven dots as eyes, similar to braille. Their abilities, though different from those of the trios of the previous two generations, are all the same: Clear Body.

In the anime, they appeared as less important Pokémon than the other two trios, even being trained, in Poké Balls, no less, by Brandon, whereas the legendary beasts are too powerful to be captured by conventional means. However, this certainly does not mean that the Regi trio are weak compared to other legendary trios.

The reason why this trio is seen as "easily attainable" by human beings is because they were thought to have been created by humans themselves. The Sealed Chamber and the various structures that house each of the golems appear to have been man-made. However, it is a complete mystery as to who constructed them. The only clues these people left are in the form of stone tablets, written in visual braille, making them distinct from ruins which use Unown writing instead. This visual braille is also found in a cave in Mt. Ember and the Dotted Hole in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. However, no braille is found in the Snowpoint Temple in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, despite its being home to Regigigas and holding importance to the Regi trio. Whether these places were built by the same people who created the locations in Hoenn is not known.

Trivia

  • In Pokémon Colosseum, the event needed to unlock the legendary golems is referenced in Battle Mode's Single Battle Mount Battle. The 90th trainer, Area Leader Axley has a party consisting of Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Flygon, Relicanth, and Wailord. Flygon was most likely used due to the fact that Dig is needed to access the second room of the Sealed Chamber.
  • The trio can be caught in Pokémon Platinum. There are two other instances in the main series that a legendary trio can be caught in a place that is not their native region (the legendary beasts can be caught in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, and the legendary birds are available for capture in Platinum, roaming Sinnoh).
  • There have been two situations where the capturing method has had some sort of reversal. First, in Generation III, the party positions of Wailord and Relicanth are switched. Then, in Generation IV, players need to migrate the trio into Diamond and Pearl in order to capture Regigigas, but in Japanese movie theaters (for those who bought the advance-sale tickets only), Regigigas can be downloaded into Diamond and Pearl then traded to Platinum, and there are special rooms to capture each of its servants.
  • All three legendary golems and Regigigas are weak to Template:T2 attacks.
