Future (Japanese: 未来 Future) is a category of cards in the Pokémon Trading Card Game first introduced in the Paradox Rift expansion, mainly revolving around the future Paradox Pokémon from the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games. Its counterpart is the Ancient cards.
Features
Future cards are distinguished by a technological "Future" label superimposed on the top right corner of the card art, and a pixelated background adorning the entire right half of the card. Future cards are available as Pokémon and Trainer cards; Future Pokémon tend to have Abilities and attacks with extra effects, allowing for craftier strategies. Certain attacks, Abilities, and Trainer cards interact specifically with Future cards.
Future cards can be considered a spiritual successor to the Rapid Strike style category of cards from the Sword & Shield series.
