Early-route Pokémon is a fan term commonly used to refer to common Pokémon that you can find in the first few routes and usually have a high catch rate. Each generation has a mammal-like Pokémon, a bird-like Pokémon and a bug-like Pokémon. These Pokémon play the role of the first experience with wild Pokémon for new players and due to this they represent their introductory region and generation in the eyes of fans.
Other commonly referred Pokémon groups with member from every, or almost every, generation are: Starter Pokémon, Electric rodents, Fossil Pokémon, Pseudo-legendary Pokémon, main Legendary duo or trio, minor Legendary group or Mew variants.
