Gimmighoul (Japanese: コレクレー Korekurē) is a Ghost-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.

While it is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, it has two forms: Chest Form and Roaming Form.

Biology

Gimmighoul is a pale blue bipedal Pokémon, with bands of two thin black stripes present around its torso and between its gold, circular eyes. It has thin black antennae and a tail, which are tipped with small yellow circles. In its Chest Form, Gimmighoul hides inside a red chest with golden accents, which is full of coins. In its Roaming Form, it carries one of these coins on its back.

Both forms of Gimmighoul have different personalities.

In Chest Form, Gimmighoul hides inside its treasure chest, providing defense but making it hard for Gimmighoul to move. When it senses a person or Pokémon draw near, it will use ghost energy to possess its target and force them to collect coins. It tends to hide in places such as warehouses and shop corners to ambush people and Pokémon. It controls people to collect about 999 coins to fill its chest.

In Roaming Form, Gimmighoul is extremely timid, running away as soon as anyone approaches. Despite being found everywhere in Paldea, no one had been able to capture Roaming Form Gimmighoul. This Gimmighoul has been also seen appearing in the world of Pokémon GO, being lured in by a mysterious gold coin. Sometimes, Roaming Gimmighoul can bee seen near its Chest Form counterpart. [1]

Trivia

Origin

Gimmighoul's Chest Form may be based on the mimic, a monster archetype commonly found in RPGs, given how it hides in a chest until a person or Pokémon draws near.

Name origin

Gimmighoul may be a combination of gimme (informal spelling of "give me") and ghoul. Altogether, it sounds like the phrase, "Give me gold."

Korekurē may be a combination of collect and sounds like これくれ (kore kure, Give me this).
