Darkrai (Japanese: ダークライ Darkrai) is one of the featured Pokémon in The Rise of Darkrai. Its Japanese voice actor is 石坂浩二 Kōji Ishizaka and its English voice actor is Scott Williams.

Darkai was at first mistook as an evil Pokémon for the first half of the movie since it apparently attacked everyone and gave them nightmares. It was only later that it was revealed that Darkrai was actually fighting off Palkia and Dialga from destroying Alamos Town.

Darkrai had a special attachment to Alice as it believed she was Alicia, Alice's grandmother, who helped Darkrai when it was injured a long time ago. Ever since then it had stayed in that garden. It also once saved Alice after she fell off a cliff. However there are other beliefs regarding the reason for protection as well.

After battling with Dialga and Palkia, it ended up sacrificing itself to protect the town and everyone in it. After Ash and Dawn asked Palkia to turn everything back to the way it was, Darkrai was shown to have been revived and was watching the town.

Trivia

  • In the American dub, when Darkrai uses an attack in the movie, it announces the name of the attack. This does not happen in the original Japanese version.
