Godey (Japanese: ゴーディ Gaudí) is a character seen in flashbacks from the movie The Rise of Darkrai. Godey is the great-grandfather of Tonio and the architect of the Space-Time Tower. He owned a journal that Tonio discovered, revealing that he had seen Alicia playing the song "Oración" on a leaf, surrounded by Pokémon, as well as Darkrai's shadow. He is an elderly man with spectacles resting on his nose, a long beard and fine dark clothes.

History

Godey had a nightmare in which Alamos Town was being destroyed by Palkia and Dialga. He theorized that the only thing that would stop the two from destroying the town was Oración, as it should calm them as it had calmed the Pokémon with Alicia. He then made a special song disc that would play Oración on the Space-Time Tower's chimes. Godey's nightmare would come true many years later and it would be up to Ash and Dawn to carry out his solution.

Trivia

  • His name and character, as well as his descendant Tonio, is probably derived from Antoni Gaudí, a famous artist and architect of the Sagrada Família.
  • Godey's original design did not have a beard. Instead, he had a broad, thick mustache.
  • He is occasionally depicted with a cane, notably in some official artwork and in the photograph of himself and Alicia. However, he is clearly shown to not require it to walk, so it may be ornamental.
