Synopsis
While Ash and friends are at the Pokémon Summer Academy, they are taught how to deal with Template:Type2 Pokémon, should they ever run into them. They are then paired up to find a hidden medal needed to get points for the activity. While searching for a partner, Conway has a run-in with a girl. On the night of the event, Team Rocket, Brock, and Dawn inadvertently meet a Dusknoir, the latter seeing it rescue Conway from the aforementioned girl, who was trying to lead Conway off a cliff. However, Dawn misinterpreted Dusknoir's actions, thinking Dusknoir was trying to spirit him away. Meowth also was lured by the girl, but was rescued by Dusknoir. It is concluded by Professor Rowan that the Dusknoir is hostile and must have originated from a mysterious hole leading to the spirit world. Meanwhile, Ash and Angie fend off Ghost Pokémon trying to spook them. They finally get to the Summit Ruins, and get the medal first. There, they meet the girl and Dusknoir, and they battle Dusknoir to protect themselves and the girl. With Dusknoir defeated, the girl tries to suck them into the spirit world through the hole. Then everyone arrives at the spot, and in the nick of time, Dusknoir wakes up and pulls the girl into the spirit world. It turns out that the girl was a ghost and Dusknoir was trying to stop her. Conway panics at this revelation.

Trivia
- The title is a pun of the phrase "school days".
- An earlier episode has a similar dub title.
- This is the first time that music from The Rise of Darkrai is used as background music.
- An updated version of the music from the Sealed Chamber, Desert Ruins, Island Cave and Ancient Tomb in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald is used.
- Template:Type2s introduced in each of the four generations appeared in this episode.
- Coincidentally, in the previous episode Up Close and Personable!, scenes of hypnotic trance are featured as well.
- In one scene, Ash mentioned to Pikachu to just count to ten when a Haunter grabbed Shinx's tail. This could refer to a Japanese myth about a ghost who is unable to count to ten, then suddenly disappears.

- In one scene, Professor Rowan's neck and ear are the same color as his hair.
Dub edits
- Dango is called a fried cakeball skew.
