Covet (Japanese: ほしがる Covet) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

Generation III

The user attacks and takes the foe's held item. The item cannot be stolen if the user is already holding an item, the target is not holding an item, the target is holding mail, or the target has the Sticky Hold ability. The item also cannot be stolen when a wild Pokémon uses this move on the player's Pokémon.

Generation IV

Same as before. Additionally, if an opponent Pokémon uses Thief or Covet on the player's Pokémon, the item will be returned at the end of the battle. Plates cannot be stolen from Pokémon with Multitype. The Griseous Orb cannot be stolen.

Generation V

The Power of Covet increased from 40 to 60.
