Pokémon world locations

The Battle Tower of Hoenn is located south of Route 130 in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and on the north side of the Battle Frontier in Pokémon Emerald. In both, its functions are carried over from Pokémon Crystal, though in Emerald it also includes possibilities for double battles, multi battles and wirelessly-linked or cable-linked multi battles with other players.

Single battle

Using the same rules and regulations as Crystal's Battle Tower, the single battle version of the Battle Tower features seven trainers in a row with three Pokémon each, with the player taking three of his or her own Pokémon to do battle. Pokémon may be either at level 50, where all opponents will have level 50 Pokémon, at level 100 (R/S), where all opponents will have level 100 Pokémon, or any level (E), where all opponents' Pokémon will be at the level of the player's highest-level Pokémon. No two Pokémon can have the same item on the same team.

Double battles

Pokémon Emerald only.

Similar in rules to the single battles, players and opponents each have four Pokémon instead of three, and every one of the seven battles is a double battle.

Multi battles

Pokémon Emerald only.

This mode features seven consecutive double battles that follow the style of regular double battles. However, this time, the player battles alongside a computer-controlled partner. Only two of the player's Pokémon are allowed to compete in this, while the other two participating Pokémon are controlled by the computer. All of the other standard rules apply.

Link Multi battles

Pokémon Emerald only.

This mode allows the player and a friend to go through the same challenge as in the aforementioned mode. Two Emerald players can battle in tandem either by connecting via a Wireless Adapter or via a Link Cable. Unlike in the previous modes, the session may not be saved - all seven battles are conducted without interruption. All normal rules apply.
