Walkthrough:Pokémon Legends: Z-A/Part 20
Main Missions 27-29 can be taken on in any order. All of the Rogue Mega Pokémon in this section are level 53.
A friendlier Froslass
Froslass is another one of the new Megas, but this one keeps its original Ghost/Ice-type. Dark- or Steel-types are perfect for this fight. Make sure that your Mega Evolution of choice isn’t weak to Ice-type attacks as these make up the majority of its damage, including its charged attack. First large icicles will fall from above. Most will shatter when they hit the ground but others will stay put. You need to stand behind these icicles in order to avoid its next attack. We also recommend recalling your Mega Pokémon here to prevent damage and to preserve your Mega Power.
If you have leveled up Mega Absol, this is a strong pick, while Emboar is great for those who picked Tepig as their starter. Sableye can also be a strong choice if it’s at a high enough level. Once you’ve taken down the Rogue Mega Froslass, and received the Froslassite, and Lady Jacinthe will appear as a hologram. It seems that she didn’t take the hint about leaving us to deal with the Rogue Mega Evolutions and continues to ask if we’ll come to her tournament. When we refuse, she asks us to hurry up so we can return. With that Main Mission 27: A Rogue Mega Froslass is completed.
Appeasing Altaria
Altaria changes from Dragon/Flying-type to Dragon/Fairy-type in its Mega form. Combining two of the best types in the game isn’t the only issue you come up against in this battle. Instead, the hardest thing about this fight is that Altaria spends almost all of its time flying high above the arena, meaning that only Mega Pokémon with long range attacks, or Pokémon that can float or fly are capable of hitting it. Altaria has a few different strong attacks. There is one where it sends out Twisters, a perfect opportunity to recall your Pokémon, and one where it shoots homing orbs.
Mega Skarmory is tailor made for this fight, as it can both fly up to Altaria above the arena, and hit it with super effective Steel-type moves. You can catch Skarmory in Wild Zone 17, and while it is about ten levels lower than the Mega Altaria, with enough healing and clever movement, it is more than able to take it out. Just don’t forget to get its Mega Stone from Quasartico Inc. and equip it before the fight. Once the battle is over you will be rewarded with the Altarianite, and Jacinthe will return to check on your progress. With that Main Mission 28: A Rogue Mega Altaria is completed.
A very angry Venusaur
Venusaur maintains its Grass/Poison-type, and like with other Rogue Mega Evolution fights it is capable of poisoning even Poison- and Steel-type Pokémon. Its most deadly attack spreads thorns across the arena, so it is vital that you have a Fire-type or cutting move in order to deal with them as soon as they appear. Not only can you Pokémon become stuck on these thorns, but they become devastating when Venusaur performs its charge attack. For this move it gathers energy from the thorns healing itself, and it is almost guaranteed to take out your Pokémon in the process. This is by far the most dangerous fight of the three, and requires good movement, strategy and plenty of healing.
We used Mega Medicham for this fight with Fire Punch to take out the thorns, and Zen Headbutt for a super-effective, same-type attack. Emboar players will also be pleased as this is another fight that the pig excels at. Once the battle is over you will receive the Venusaurite, and guess who is there to greet us. Met by Jacinthe’s hologram once more, we no longer have an excuse for not attending her tournament. This encounter will end Main Mission 29: A Rogue Mega Venusaur, and you can now return to Hotel Richissime to finally work on cheering Jacinthe up.
