Walkthrough:Pokémon Legends: Z-A/Part 16
Main Missions 21-23 can be taken on in any order. All of the Rogue Mega Pokémon in this section are level 48.
Making good on Mawile
In order to reach Mega Mawile you will need to climb the scaffolding to get onto the roof. During the fight sometimes Mawile will leave the area and begin to shoot balls of light that explode when they hit the floor. In the second half of the fight it will also shoot orbs that home in on you. It is a good idea to recall your Pokémon during this attack, as they cannot hit Mawile anyway. Not only will this protect them from the attack, but it will stop their Mega Energy from depleting.
Despite Mawile's Fairy-typing we used Mega Garchomp with Earthquake to tear through Mawile’s health. Emboar is another great pick here, as is Camerupt, which resists every attack Mawile can throw at you. Defeating Mega Mawile will reward you with the Mawilite, and Main Mission 21 will be complete.
Beating Barbaracle
The easiest way to reach Barbaracle is to enter the waterways via the Magikarp pond in Bleu Sector 5. Take the path to the right as you enter, and you’ll see an ice block. Break it using a Fire-type move and you’ll be able to cross over to Barbaracle. There is also a path over the rooftops. Mega Barbaracle drops its Water-typing for Fighting-type. This means that it is a Rock/Fighting-type Pokémon, and its charge attack is a huge barrage of punches.
This attack is by far the most dangerous part of the fight. It homes in on you, is almost impossible to dodge, and without Canari charms will easily take you out in one hit. Despite dropping its Water-typing, it still has Water-type attacks, and like Beedrill, will happily summon plenty of Binacle to make it difficult to lock on to. Both Mega Meganium and Feraligatr are strong in this fight, but if you are an Emboar enjoyer, you can also try Mega Garchomp or Hawlucha.
Once defeated, you’ll be rewarded with Barbaracite, and you’ll have completed Main Mission 22.
Appeasing Ampharos
Ampharos is high up on the rooftops, but before we can get to it we need to get the Holovator back online. You notice Gwynn staring at you from behind a building, and she tells you that she will fix the Holovator for you if you defeat her in a rematch. She has added a Gengar to her line up, and everything is a few levels higher, but she is fairly similar to the last time she fought us. She has a level 45 Banette, a level 46 Gourgeist and Gengar, and a level 47 Mega Chandelure. Following your victory, she will scare away the Phantump that was hiding in the Holovator.
Ampharos is quite far away as it is on a high rooftop, so you will have to take the long way around in order to get up there. It also gains the Dragon-type when it Mega evolves, so Mega Meganium works well in this fight, or Mega Mawile if you already earned this Mega Stone. Ampharos’ charge attack is a huge electrical discharge, which can paralyze even Ground- and Electric-type Pokémon, so you’ll want some Paralyze Heals with you. Overall though this fight is easier than the Mega Barbaracle fight, and once defeated you’ll be awarded the Ampharosite and Main Mission 23 will be completed.
