Jubilife Village

Return to Jubilife Village, enter Galaxy Hall, and speak to Commander Kamado in his office. Kamado will congratulate you on completing your mission in the Cobalt Coastlands, which helped not only the Galaxy Team but the Pearl Clan as well, although he is still suspicious of the space-time rift and your coming to the land of Hisui.

You’ve completed the mission The Lordless Island!

You, Rei/Akari, and Laventon enjoy your customary evening meal of Beni’s potato mochi at the Wallflower. The Professor is jealous that you were able to witness the birth of a new Lord, although he is well aware that he would not have been able to ride Basculegion across the sea as you were.

In the morning you’re greeted by someone unfamiliar, who informs you that Kamado is waiting for you in his office. The Commander tasks you with your next mission - we must go to the Coronet Highlands to quell the frenzied noble Electrode, Lord of the Hollow. Adaman, who is alongside the Commander, explains that Electrode stores electricity before unleashing it, and since it became frenzied the electrical outbursts have become giant blasts.

Kamado has enlisted the Pearl Clan’s help in giving safe passage to the Highlands, but before he can finish his thought you’re interrupted by Melli, who has taken umbrage to the fact that you’re discussing Electrode without inviting him, Electrode’s warden. Melli does not agree with your ability to quell the frenzied noble, and is not shy in voicing that opinion. Regardless Commander Kamado’s decision is made, starting our next mission: Scaling Perilous Heights.

Adaman and Melli wait for you in the foyer downstairs, and Adaman intends to prove your strength to Melli by challenging you to a battle. Adaman will wait outside Galaxy Hall for you, and you can use this time to set your party how you want, as the battle will not commence until you tell Adaman that you’re ready.

Adaman sends both Pokémon out at the same time, but the Leafeon is much more threatening than the Eevee, so focus on knocking that out first before turning your attention to his Eevee. After the battle, Melli is still unimpressed by your skills, as he and Adaman return to the Highlands.

Cyllene summons you into her office to explain more about your next mission. The Coronet Highlands will be dangerous, as they are very close to the space-time rift, and you must be at least a Fourth Star rank for her to let you go. If you have not already achieved this, head back out of the village and complete research tasks until you have 6,000 research points, then return to Cyllene to show her your progress and she will increase your rank. Reaching the rank of Fourth Star grants you the recipes for Leaden Balls and Hyper Potions, means Pokémon up to level 50 will obey you in battle, and improves the money gained for survey reports.

Before you can go to the Coronet Highlands, Cyllene tells you that you will require a particular person’s help to quell the frenzied Electrode, and that we can find them at the training grounds.

At the training grounds you’ll find Irida standing next to the person who greeted us this morning. Speak to her and she’ll introduce him as Ingo, the warden of Sneasler. Irida reveals that he, too, arrived from parts unknown one day, with little to no memory of how they arrived or where they came from. With that, you are free to head to the front gate and visit the Coronet Highlands for the first time.

Coronet Highlands

Professor Laventon is waiting at the Coronet Highlands to welcome you, with the space-time rift swirling ominously above Mount Coronet, that dominates the area. He motions you in the direction of Ingo, who is waiting to guide you up the mountain.

Head over to the waypoint to find Ingo, who muses about the plight of the Electrode, before Melli interrupts to challenge you to a battle, which you politely decline. Melli views the frenzy of the noble Pokémon as a mark of favor from almighty Sinnoh, making them even stronger, and that it is proof of the validity of the beliefs of the Diamond Clan. He then tells you in no uncertain terms to turn around and head back to Jubilife Village, before he leaves to go back up the mountain.

Ingo disagrees with Melli, and asks if you wish to press on. Tell him you do, and he’ll tell you to meet him inside Wayward Cave once you’re ready. Make any preparations you need, then enter the cave.

Wayward Cave

Inside the cave, the torches that normally light the way have all been extinguished, but Ingo knows the way, so as long as you follow him closely you’ll be okay. While you follow him, he’ll tell you about his previous life before he arrived in Hisui, even though his memories are cloudy at this point. Just before you reach the exit, Ingo spots the torches grouped together and unlit, adding credence to his theory that Melli removed them to slow your progress. He’ll return them to their rightful place and relight them, leaving your path to the exit clear.

Once you exit the cave, Ingo reveals that he appeared in Hisui through the rift, and was taken in by the Pearl Clan, where his previous skill in dealing with Pokémon helped him reach the rank of warden. He’ll set another waypoint further on, and leave you to make your own way there.

Make your way back to Ingo, and you’ll find him and Melli in intense discussions. Melli is being obstructive again, and this time you’ll have no choice but to best him in battle to advance further.

Melli uses a Skuntank, a Poison/Dark-type Pokémon that is only weak to Ground-type attacks, so using those is a good way to win. If you don’t have any in your team, make the most of your numerical advantage, as you can use your full team of six, while Melli has just one Pokémon.

After you win Melli will make a ‘tactical’ retreat, and you and Ingo can press onwards through the Ancient Quarry.

Ancient Quarry

Inside the quarry, Ingo explains that the stones used to build the Temple of Sinnoh atop Mount Coronet were all taken from the Ancient Quarry. Volo then emerges behind you, and asks Ingo whether he thinks the space-time rift is the reason he lost his memories. Ingo doesn’t have cause to believe that to be true, but of course with his lost memories it’s difficult to be certain. Ingo suggests that you might be better placed to answer questions about the rift, having come through it more recently. Volo asks if you remember seeing anything inside, and that he thinks there is something on the other side of the rift causing the strange lightning.

Volo then reveals that a space-time rift has appeared in Hisui before, and muses about what could be on the other side, why the previous rift closed, why it has since reopened, and why you fell through. With that, Volo departs, and Ingo goes ahead to set a waypoint, leaving you to go through the quarry alone and traverse the Highlands until you meet up with him again.

Clamberclaw Cliffs

Meet Ingo at the Clamberclaw Cliffs, a sheer rock face you are currently unable to ascend. He explains that Sneasler has the ability to climb rocks, almost like it knows a hidden move, although he can’t quite remember. This is both an allusion to the HM for Rock Climb (though that was from Generation IV games set in Sinnoh, not the games set in Ingo's original Unova region), and also a nod to Ingo's Japanese name, Nobori (ノボリ) which can be read as "to ascend/climb". Ingo hopes a battle with you might reignite some of his lost memories. You can enter battle right away, or make some changes before accepting his request.

Ingo leads off with Machoke, which as a Fighting-type is weak to Psychic, Fairy, and Flying-type attacks. Once Machoke is knocked out, which Pokémon he sends out next depends on if he can find a type advantage against your active Pokémon. Gliscor is much more threatening than Tangela, but with a double weakness to Ice-type attacks any Ice move should clean it up easily, and will also be super effective against the Tangela.

Once you’re victorious, Ingo will use his Celestica Flute to summon Sneasler, and then invite you to do the same so Sneasler gets used to your playing. Sneasler will then gift you the Toxic Plate. Ingo departs to return to Jubilife Village, leaving you to make your own way to Electrode using Sneasler to climb the cliffs that previously blocked your path, opening up the entirety of the Coronet Highlands.

Riding Sneasler

Press the A button when you’re near a climbable surface to summon Sneasler, or press the + button in any other location. You can switch ride Pokémon using left and right on the d-pad. While riding Sneasler, press Y next to a climbable surface to start ascending, and press B if you need to let go.

Moonview Arena

Melli is waiting for your arrival at Moonview Arena, and once again he’ll refuse to let you advance unless you can defeat him in battle.

Melli’s Skuntank has gained two levels from your last battle, and is now flanked by Skorupi and Zubat, with this fight being a three-on-one battle. Both Skorupi and Zubat have effort level three in their attack and special attack. Your strategy should be to handle Skuntank first, as the biggest threat of the three, before picking off the Skorupi and Zubat afterwards. Melli having all three of his Pokémon out at once may feel unfair, but this is counteracted by your ability to have a full party of six and the fact that you can use items to heal if you need.

After your victory, Melli is keen to stress that although you won, he didn’t lose, he just didn’t have time to train his Pokémon properly. Melli then claims to have completely forgotten which foods Electrode likes, so you won’t be able to make the balms you need. Adaman arrives at this point, and a small argument ensues between he and Melli about his behaviour and the strife of the frenzied Electrode, which the Diamond Clan leader wins, leading the three of you to make the Mountain Balms needed to quell lord Electrode’s frenzy. When you’re ready, talk to Melli again to begin the encounter with Electrode.

Frenzied Electrode

Our strategy is the same as in our other noble fights - throwing balms at the frenzied lord using the ZR button, while dodging its attacks by pressing the Y button at the right time.

The fight will begin with Electrode firing Energy Ball attacks that track and follow you, while also causing Voltorb to drop from the tree and subsequently explode, with a small blast radius. After a while Electrode will spring into the air and crash down onto the arena, before charging an Explosion of their own with a much larger area of effect. After it explodes it drops its guard, leaving you free to send your Pokémon into battle if you wish.

Once it is no longer stunned, the pattern will repeat, although when Electrode’s frenzy gauge is lower its Energy Balls will get larger, and thus more difficult to doge, and its explosion area will also increase.

Hisuian Electrode is an Electric/Grass-type, meaning it is weak to Bug, Fire, Poison, and Ice-type moves, and resists Steel, Grass, and Electric-type attacks, while double resisting Water-types.

Once you’ve hit Electrode with the final Mountain Balm required to fully lower its frenzy gauge, a brilliant light envelops it, and its frenzy finally dissipates. In recognition of your help, Electrode hands over the Zap Plate, before rolling away.

Melli, to nobody’s surprise, bemoans that he helped you make the balm’s which quelled almighty Sinnoh’s blessing on Electrode, but Adaman sensibly thanks you for helping to stop its suffering. Ingo arrives, and it appears some more of his memories have returned. In the land where he lived before arriving in Hisui, people and Pokémon interacted frequently, and most people caught them and formed partnerships with them, including Pokémon Trainers who honed their skills in battling every chance they could. Ingo believes that people can only progress if they do not live in fear of Pokémon, but work and collaborate with them.

Adaman asks if your world was like that as well, and if the frenzied nobles are a test for people to overcome, something that Melli seems to latch onto. Ingo returns to Jubilife Village (for real this time), and when you’re ready you can do the same to update Commander Kamado of your progress.
