The Toolbox (Japanese: どうぐばこ Toolbox) is used to store items in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.

Mechanics

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, the Toolbox has a maximum capacity of 20 items and items held by team members are not counted as in the Toolbox. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, the Toolbox starts at a capacity of 32 and may increase with the player's rank, capping out at 56.

If the Toolbox is full, new items cannot be obtained in dungeons or purchased from the Kecleon Shop. Job rewards will be sent to Kangaskhan Storage if the Toolbox is full. In some dungeons, a Kangaskhan Rock can be used to exchange items between the Toolbox and Storage before finishing the dungeon.

The Toolbox is obtained as a part of the Rescue Team Starter Set after clearing the first mission. In Rescue Team DX, a Bag with 24 item slots is used prior to this.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate!

Team Go-Getters owns a Toolbox in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate!. It was initially carried by Chikorita, who soon gave it to Squirtle. Due to Team Meanies cleaning up the Kecleon Shop of all supplies, Team Go-Getters was forced to fill their Toolbox up with nothing but Berries for their mission in Sinister Cave. Although most of the Berries were eaten by Ekans of Team Meanies as an act of sabotage, leaving them with just two Oran Berries, Team Go-Getters received unexpected aid from Aunty Kangaskhan of the Kangaskhan Storage, who gifted them with several Corsola Twigs.

Merchandise

A keychain featuring Squirtle and a Toolbox has been released as part of the Double Acrylic Charm Collection Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX B exclusive to the Pokémon Center.
