The Untold Story of Pecharunt

The Untold Story of Pecharunt (Japanese: 知られざる「モモワロウ物語」 The Unknown "Tale of Momowarou") is a 5-minute animated short acting as a prelude to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Epilogue — Mochi Mayhem. Signboards depicting one of Kitakami’s oldest folktales are scattered throughout the land—yet none of them make mention of Pecharunt. What could be the true tale of this Mythical Pokémon?
Plot
An old, childless couple in a distant land are the devoted caretakers of a Pokémon named Pecharunt. Hoping to get more of their affection, Pecharunt produces Binding Mochi for the couple, drawing out their materialistic greed and chaining them to its will. Soon, they start to make requests for it to bring them various gifts, which Pecharunt accepts under the belief that they would love it more. It then tames the Pokémon that would soon become Okidogi with its Binding Mochi to help it deliver the items.
One day, the couple asks Pecharunt to retrieve four brilliant masks, whose location is rumored to be in the land of Kitakami. It immediately takes on the task and sets off to Kitakami with Okidogi, having grown weary of their increasingly repetitive errands prior to that. Along the way, Pecharunt uses its Binding Mochi once again to recruit Munkidori as its second retainer and Fezandipiti as its third and final one.
After a long journey that had them cross fields, mountains, and seas, Pecharunt and its retainers arrive at Kitakami in the middle of the Festival of Masks, where they eventually spot Ogerpon and its partner donning the masks they sought. Munkidori helps Pecharunt to track down their home in the Dreaded Den while Okidogi and Fezandipiti sneak inside the cave to steal the masks. Just then, they are ambushed by Ogerpon's companion, who is only able to protect the Teal Mask when they fight back against him.
Okidogi and Fezandipiti return to Pecharunt and Munkidori with the Wellspring, Hearthflame, and Cornerstone Masks, and the four celebrate for a brief period before they are caught red-handed by Ogerpon. Pecharunt takes to hiding and commands its retainers to defend it, but their combined power is no match for the Mask Pokémon. It then finds and defeats a saddened Pecharunt, who uses its remaining strength to withdraw inside its shell. It continues to lie dormant in a forest, awaiting its awakening so it can continue to grant its caretakers' wishes.
