Team Plasma's Icy Malice (Japanese: 凍える悪意のプラズマ団) was a villain event in Pokémon Masters EX. It tied into the second part of the Unova chapter of the Villain Arc, featuring battles against Team Plasma. It was one of the Unova villain events, the other being The Captured King.

During this event, players could earn vouchers and Kyurem Crystals from battles against Team Plasma that could be redeemed in the shop for rewards, including a power boost for Ghetsis & Kyurem that would give them additional tiles on their sync grid. Obtaining 2,000 vouchers would reward players with a medal. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day.

This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.

All sync pairs with the Unova theme skill received a bonus to their Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk and Sp. Def stats when used for this event, with the amount of the bonus varying between areas.

First run

The event first ran from November 14 to December 3, 2022. The "Sygna Suit N Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Sygna Suit N & Kyurem for the duration of the event.

In this run, players could earn Ice-themed Event Vouchers J from battles. Event missions rewarded players with Gems and Battle Points for completing any of these battles a certain number of times, and the Battle Challenge mission rewards included a Tech and a Support Move Candy Coin.

Additionally, the music and artwork on the title screen were different than usual. The title screen artwork depicted Sygna Suit Hilda & Victini, Sygna Suit Hilbert & Genesect, Hugh, Sygna Suit N & Black Kyurem, and Ghetsis, and the background music wasDecisive Battle! (N) (Pokémon Masters EX Version). In addition, a special voice-over line of a Trainer saying "Pokémon Masters EX" would play as soon as the game's logo appeared on the title screen. This line could be spoken by Hilbert, Hilda, N, or Hugh, chosen at random each time the title screen was loaded.

Second run

The event reran from October 24 to November 3, 2023. The "Triple Feature Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Sygna Suit Hilda & Victini, Sygna Suit Hilbert & Genesect, and Sygna Suit N & Kyurem from October 22 to November 12, 2023.

In this run, players could earn Bug-themed Event Vouchers P from battles, and the amount of vouchers received as completion rewards was increased drastically. In addition, the mission rewards were changed to only award Gems and medals.

If the player had already received Ghetsis & Kyurem's power boost, exchanging for it in the shop again would reward the player with a 3★ Power-Up.

Third run

The event reran again from April 7 to 17, 2024. The "Triple Feature Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Sygna Suit Hilda & Victini, Sygna Suit May & Blaziken, and Sygna Suit Red & Charizard from April 5 to the end of the event.

In this run, players could earn Ice-themed Event Vouchers Y from battles, and the amount of vouchers received as completion rewards was increased slightly compared to the original run. Everything else was the same as the previous run.
