Lamenting a Millennium (Japanese: 千年先を憂う者たち Those who Worry about the Millennium Ahead) was a villain event in Pokémon Masters EX. It tied into the first part of the Galar chapter of the villain arc. It was one of the Galar villain events, the other being Hear the Cheers!.
During this event, players could earn vouchers from battles that could be redeemed in the shop for rewards, including Legendary Spirits that could be used to raise Hop & Zamazenta to 
6★ EX. Obtaining 2,000 vouchers would reward players with a medal. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day.
This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.
All sync pairs with the Galar theme skill received a bonus to their Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk and Sp. Def stats when used for this event, with the amount of the bonus varying between areas.
First run
The event first ran from July 14 to August 19, 2023. The "Rose Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Rose & Copperajah for the duration of the event, and the "Oleana Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Oleana & Garbodor beginning on July 16, 2023 and lasting until the end of the event. In addition, Hop & Zamazenta received their EX style in conjunction with this event.
In this run, players could earn Event Vouchers Y from battles. Event missions rewarded players with Gems and Battle Points for completing any of these battles a certain number of times, and the Battle Challenge mission rewards included a Strike and a Tech Move Candy Coin.
Additionally, the music and artwork on the title screen were different than usual. From July 14 to 31, 2023, the title screen artwork depicted Rose & Copperajah and Oleana & Garbodor, and the background music was
Battle! (Rose) (Pokémon Masters EX Version). In addition, a special voice-over line of Rose or Oleana saying "Pokémon Masters EX" would play as soon as the game's logo appeared on the title screen, chosen at random each time the title screen was loaded. From July 31 to August 19, 2023, Leon (Alt.) & Dragapult and Gloria (Alt. 2) & Cinderace were added to this title screen artwork, and the background music wasDecisive Battle! (Leon) (Pokémon Masters EX Version). In addition, special voice-over lines of Leon and Gloria saying "Pokémon Masters EX" were added to the pool of lines randomly chosen each time the title screen was loaded.
Second run
The event reran from March 19 to April 2, 2024. The "Double Feature Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Rose & Copperajah and Oleana & Garbodor for the duration of the event. Both of these sync pairs received unlockable EX roles in conjunction with this scout.
In this run, players could earn Event Vouchers S from battles, and the amount of vouchers received as completion rewards was increased drastically. In addition, the mission rewards were changed to only award Gems and medals.
If the player had already raised Hop & Zamazenta to 6★ EX, they could not do anything with his custom Legendary Spirits; so, an exchange was included in the shop to revert the Legendary Spirits back into Event Vouchers S. However, due to a bug, these Event Vouchers S were the Rock-themed vouchers used in the first run of Looming Shadow of Kanto, so they could not be used in the exchange shop for this event and were automatically converted into coins after the player completed a battle. This issue was resolved in version 2.43.0, released on March 27, 2024, so that Hop & Zamazenta's Legendary Spirits could be exchanged for the correct event vouchers. All players received 300 Gems as compensation.[1]
