Talk:List of Pokémon by breeding attributes
Un-hatchable Pokemon
Does this list have to include Pokemon that can't (legitimately) hatch from eggs, like evolved Pokemon or unbreedable Pokemon? If we want to keep the information on the page somehow, then I think we can delete those Pokemon from the main table and add an expandable table like we did with the unseen Hoenn Pokedex numbers. sumwun (talk) 23:15, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

Some Pokémon changed base egg cycles in gen 8
The page currently states that no Pokémon has ever had its base egg cycles change from one game to another, but this is false. The base egg cycles of several Pokémon changed between Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon and Sword/Shield -- some of those changes even appearing in the data of Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, although not used in those games. The page must be corrected with the accurate data. Porygon137 (talk) 13:33, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
- Do you know which ones and how they changed? sumwun (talk, contribs) 15:55, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

- Caterpie line (15 --> 10), Weedle line (15 --> 10), Pikachu line (10 --> 20), Clefairy line (10 --> 20), Jigglypuff line (10 --> 20), Aerodactyl (35 --> 30), Spinda (15 --> 20), Corphish line (15 --> 20), Toxicroak (20 --> 10) (apparently Croagunk was already 10 so one is just a weird data fix I guess), Watchog (20 --> 15) (same story there with Patrat), Scolipede (20 --> 15) (and here too), Zoroark (20 --> 25) (and here), Meloetta (120 --> 20) (ok this one is weird). I didn't check alternate forms because those are always a hassle, what with having different indexes in every game. Data sources for this comparison: USUM data that I dumped myself from the hex, and SwSh data from here and here. If I'm just looking at the wrong data somehow and I'm completely wrong, I'm going to feel very silly. Porygon137 (talk) 20:29, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
- Disregard me I'm wrong about everything Porygon137 (talk) 20:38, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

Move to List of Pokémon by Breeding attributes
Because with this article also showing Egg groups, it's not just about Egg cycles. CoolMan6001 (talk) 23:27, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- This is probably a good idea. If this happens, then I get to stop worrying about hiding the Pokemon that can't legitimately hatch from eggs. sumwun (talk, contribs) 12:47, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Seconded. (Thirded?) Pichugetic (talk) 06:27, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- +1'd. I think it's strange that List of Pokemon by Egg Groups redirects to a page about Egg cycles since Egg Groups a) have their own pages, and b) are needed to get Eggs in the first place, so they're definitely not less important. Breeding information properly describes the page's purpose of cataloguing both the relevant attributes for breeding. Dry Paratroopa 05:07, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Bump, I suppose. I still agree with the move. Pichugetic (talk) 17:34, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- I will add my support for the move; this is the page that comes up when people search for "List of Pokémon by Egg Group," so the title should reflect the full extent of the information given in the list. Dougbro1 (Talk) 19:16, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me, I support moving the page. -- Apopheniac (talk) 15:37, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- This move has been completed per the above consensus. Landfish7 17:38, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

Move 2
This page was moved today from "List of Pokémon by base Egg cycles" to "List of Pokémon by breeding attributes" as per consensus above.
I agree that this move was an improvement, but let's please consider moving it to "List of Pokémon breeding attributes" (without "by").
Does the word "by" imply that this list is sorted by the breeding attributes? This article is a sortable table, but it's not organized like that by default. It's basically a list of Pokémon by National Pokédex number which also includes the breeding attributes. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 22:21, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yikes. Would you suggest moving all the other list-of-Pokémon-by-X articles as well? I’m not sure I think that’s necessary, though I’ll admit my reasoning is based in large part on ‘that’s a lot of work’. I think things are fine as they are, but I have no direct criticism of your idea itself. (Thank you Landfish for seeing to the previous move.) Pichugetic (talk) 15:04, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- Why move all the lists? Most of them correctly use "by" referring to the order of listed Pokémon so their names are fine:
- List of Pokémon by name
- List of Pokémon by height
- List of Pokémon by weight
- List of Pokémon by shape
- List of Pokémon by color
- List of Pokémon by habitat
- List of Pokémon by IQ group
- List of Pokémon by gender ratio
- List of Pokémon by index number in Generation I
- List of Pokémon by Pal Park location
- List of Pokémon by Johto Pokédex number
- List of Pokémon by Fiore Browser number
- List of Pokémon by Pokémon Duel Library number
- List of Pokémon by Ransei Gallery order
- etc.

- My mistake; I’d recently been interacting with a few of them in the list below, and sort of subconsciously extrapolated. These are the ones which fit the description of ‘just in dex order with a sortable table’, AFAICT.
- List of Pokémon by Ability
- List of Pokémon by base friendship
- List of Pokémon by catch rate
- List of Pokémon by experience type
- List of Pokémon by call rate
- List of Pokémon by food preferences (Hisui dex instead of Ndex)
- List of Pokémon by performance stats¹
- List of Pokémon by base stats in Generation IX¹ ²
- List of Pokémon by effort value yield in Generation IX¹ ²

- ¹ I’m not sure how one would list Pokémon ‘by’ these properties, nor if that counts as a reason for or against removing the ‘by’.
- ² And other generations’ versions.
- Would you say any of these ought to be renamed too? Again, I can’t argue against it; current preposition isn’t terribly meaningful. Some would need more thought that just cutting out the word ‘by’, of course. Pichugetic (talk)
- Thank you for checking the other lists like that. I created a separate discussion for them now: Bulbapedia talk:Editor's Hub#Remove the word "by" from some lists of Pokémon. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 17:53, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
