Why do people keep removing my edit to the trivia of Noibat stating that "Despite having the lowest base stat total of all Dragon-Type Pokemon, Goomy's PokeDex entry states it is the weakest Dragon-Type.- unsigned comment from ScareWolf (talkcontribs)

Because the base stat total is not the only factor that determines how weak a Pokémon is. One can argue that Noibat's moveset, higher Speed stat, Abilities, and type combination make it overall stronger Pokémon than Goomy.--Den Zen 00:10, 1 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Undoing/reverting edit

What does undoing or reverting a person's edit has to do with it. --Cinday123 (Talk) 05:36, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

You're going to have to be more specific as to what you mean. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 05:58, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Any edit that has unnotable trivia, bad grammar, and vandalism can be undid? --Cinday123 (Talk) 06:17, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
...if you give a good reason... then yes.--ForceFire 08:02, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Force Fire, I'll have to be extra careful next time I'm editing. And one more I forgot, the same thing with separate links will be undid or no? --Cinday123 (Talk) 08:10, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Edit request

Would someone change "moves" to "moves" in the Template related section? Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:23, 15 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Also: "abilities" to "abilities" (same section)? Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:56, 15 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Edit request

In Bulbapedia:FAQ#Are there rules to using the userspace?:

Users are not allowed to edit other users pages unless you're changing a redlink to prevent it from showing up in the Wanted Pages.

should say

Users are not allowed to edit other users' pages unless you're changing a redlink to prevent it from showing up in the Wanted Pages.

Thanks! KantoRules 07:01, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

What does it mean when an edit's patrolled?

I see a list here, but I don't know what it means. Unowninator (talk) 21:42, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's supposed to be the staff's way of knowing which edits have been monitored, although we don't really use it since the RC isn't too active and active staff tend to monitor all edits, anyways. Basically, when we view the diff of an edit, we have the option of marking it as patrolled, which means that a staff member has reviewed the edit and deemed it okay. Most of the edits you see in that list have been automatically marked as patrolled--staff members at the Senior Administrator level and higher have all of their edits automatically marked as patrolled. In short, it's not really something you need to worry about. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 21:52, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

"How do I change my username?"

I have just realized that this is likely a commonly-asked question (it's certainly one I'd like to ask) that isn't on this page. Should it be added? Xolroc (talk) 18:49, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

You can't. If want to change contact the edit bord.
Horton Hears a murder (talk) 18:51, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I figured that was the case. Proooobably should still be added though, so you don't get a lot of people asking it. Xolroc (talk) 18:56, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Bulbapedia:Username policy#Changing usernames. It's around anyway, and in the navbox at the bottom of this page. Tiddlywinks (talk) 18:59, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

When do I become auto-confirmed?

This seems like the type of question many users would be asking. I'm aware of the auto-confirmation this wiki and many others use (hello from the Super Mario Wiki!). I also know that the different wikis have different time-frames of when users become autoconfirmed, so my question, as stated above, is when do users become autoconfirmed? I can't seem to find the answer on the FAQ. Alex95 (talk) 22:00, 4 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

my understanding is that the staff refuses to tell anyone and changes it regularly to keep people from only doing enough edits to be autoconfirmed and then not being productive. Although it probably wouldn't hurt to just say that on the FAQ. Nutter Butter (talk) 22:06, 4 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Huh. I got Pokken Tournament for my birthday and was looking up more info about it, to find that the advisor, Nia, doesn't have a page. I'll need to make a few more edits before I can start making pages of course, I was just wondering how many edits need to have been made and/or what the waiting period is. Alex95 (talk) 22:26, 4 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
That is somewhat understandable, but as per the talk page for Zesty Cactus, "The requirements to become autoconfirmed are based on both your number of edits and how long you've been a member of the site. The exact requirements are a secret, so I can't tell you, sorry!" My suggestion is to ask a member of staff like Jo The Marten about what would go in that article and the text and maybe it can be created for you. Maybe this will not work out in the end, but it is the best that I can suggest. --Super goku (talk) 07:35, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Add new info about the protected Pokémon beta pages?

Do you think adding a question/answer combo for why the pages about certain Pokémon game development periods are protected so that non-staff users can't edit them? Tag365 (talk) 06:53, 28 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Types of English

Does Bulbapedia officially use American or British English? -PinkYoshifan 18:15, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

American. Like the games. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:53, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Username changes

This section on the page is outdated, as username changes were completely disallowed due to an issue with my old account, Keyacom (talkcontribs) (formerly TheICTLiker4), which was explained as a message from the editor. Pokemaster97 (talkcontribs) allowed me to create the account I'm writing this topic as, as I cannot edit from my old account due to its username on Bulbanews still being unchanged.

Proofs:

 1. User talk:Keyacom#Username change request
 2. Conversation of me and Pokemaster97 on Bulbagarden Forums, started by Pokemaster97 at 14 May 2020.

Sincerely, --Bfdifan2006 10:39, 21 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

As a note I saw this comment, but since I am under the impression that this should hopefully be getting fixed with the update.--Spriteit (talk) 09:34, 14 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

How do I change the template to look like when I didn't have an account? Hereicomeiamgholdengo (talk) 18:49, 18 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Advertising

Is there anything that can be done to tone down the intrusive and site-breaking advertising on the mobile version of the website? I can't expand sections half the time when I'm trying to eadan article on my phone

an they take up almost half the screen. I don't mind supporting sites like Bulbapedia if they advertise responsibly but I'm seriously considering switching to a browser with a built-in ad blocker if it doesn't improve. I can only imagine what the app is going to be like if it ever comes to Android. d

Adam Black (talk) 14:33, 25 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Ads aren't supposed to show up if you are logged in. Your best bet may be to join our Discord server and contact a staff member, so you can provide details that you may not want to reveal publicly. Alternatively, you can report a bad ad by emailing badadreport AT bulbagarden.net, following the directions on the Bad ads page. C.Ezra.M (talk | contribs) 16:27, 25 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've been using Bulbapedia logged out on my phone (I don't like editing any wikis on mobile, it's a bit of a nightmare). I only logged in to post this but I'll stay logged in and see if the ads stay away. The experience for logged out users is, if I'm anything to go by, intolerable though. Been doing a run through of all the Switch games the past few weeks and it's been horrible trying to quickly look something up without going to get my laptop. Adam Black (talk) 17:26, 25 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
We have rules about what kinds of ads are allowed through, but violating ads aren't always caught in the screening process. Usually the ad networks do what they can to block violating ads, but malicious actors still find ways to scam their way in.
This can also depend on your regional ad networks. We don't have direct control over what ads are let through or get pass screening, but we take bad ads seriously and reports are the best way to ensure that the proper people hear about them and can take intrusive or inappropriate ads down or make any needed adjustments to ad placements to improve the user experience. As Ezra said, you can do this by emailing [email protected] providing any details listed on the Bad ads page that you can.
The more that people report problematic ads and other ad issues, the more we can do to improve the experience. Remember that any and all reports are accepted. If something doesn't look right to you, please report it. Thanks for reaching out! Landfish7 17:59, 25 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
When switching to mobile view the ads block the link to switch back to desktop, so if I'm on my phone, I have to constantly refresh my page so I can repeatedly click the link before the ad pops up. But if I'm on my computer it's near impossible because I can't just touch refresh, swipe down and repeatedly click the link before the ad shows up, especially because my computer works fast. N’s Pokemon

The page on N’s Pokemon says Abilities are random, but I can confirm after several resets that N’s Pokemon are not random. They are listed correctly on Serebii but not on Bulbapedia. Can this be updated to reflect N’s Pokemon’s Abilities in game (not just what they could be based on the species)? Cero (talk) 14:52, 28 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
