Pokémon Trading Card Game
The Standard format used in the TCG rotates in the late winter or spring depending on region. In TPCi/Play! Pokémon regions, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines, new cards are generally made legal 2 weeks after their respective initial release date. Elsewhere, new cards become legal for play immediately upon release.
- Before the rotation, the 2024-25 Standard format was used; cards with a
,
,
, and
regulation mark are legal. - After the rotation, the 2025-26 Standard format was used; cards with a
,
, and
regulation mark are legal.
In Mainland China, the legal regulation marks before and after rotation differ from other regions.
- Before the rotation, the Chinese 2025 Standard format was used in which cards with a
,
,
,
, and
regulation mark are legal. - After the rotation, the Chinese 2026 Standard format was used in which cards with a

,
,
, and
regulation mark are legal.
The exact timing of the rotation differed by region as follows:
China: January 16, 2026
Japan: January 23, 2026
Taiwan and Hong Kong: February 6, 2026
South Korea: March 13, 2026
Thailand: March 20, 2026
Indonesia: April 3, 2026
TPCi/Play! Pokémon, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines: April 10, 2026
The only regional-level event to use the Expanded format was the Champions League 2026 Aichi May, which held an Expanded tournament in additon to Standard events. New cards are made legal for play in Expanded at the same time as Standard. Two cards, Rebel Clash Flapple and Evolving Skies Medicham V, were added to the Expanded ban list during this season.
Pokémon GO
In Pokémon GO, the Great League format was used; this means that Pokémon with a CP of 1,500 or less are legal.

In-person National and International competitions
These are National and International top-level tournaments, typically offering multiple direct qualification spots to the Pokémon World Championships, including spots with travel awards. The one exception to this is the Pokemon UNITE tournament at LAIC where the top 3 teams were instead provided with travel awards to PUACL. This represented the only path for non-asian teams to compete at that tournament.
Note that there are no national championships in China, instead Chinese seeds, and travel awards are selected entirely through seasonal championship points. Additionally, the Pokémon Sports Day event hosts the 2026 Pokémon Trainers Cup (PTC), the Korean League 2026 Final Season, and the 2026 Pokémon GO Asia Championships Series: South Korea under the same roof.
