The Shadow Shard (Japanese: シャドウのかけら Shadow Shard) is an item in Pokémon GO that is obtained from Team GO Rocket members. Four Shadow Shards can be combined to create a Purified Gem.
In Pokémon GO
Effect
Whenever the player obtains four Shadow Shards, they will be automatically combined inside Professor Willow's Shard Refiner to create a Purified Gem. Purified Gems are used in Shadow Raids to subdue an enraged three- or five-star Shadow Raid Boss.
Description
|
Acquisition
Shadow Shards are obtained after defeating a Team GO Rocket in a Trainer Battle or Shadow Raid.
In Trainer Battles, Team GO Rocket members will leave behind Shadow Shards if the player has less than 10 Purified Gems on hand.
- A Team GO Rocket Grunt drops 1 Shadow Shard
- A Team GO Rocket Leader drops 3 Shadow Shards
- Giovanni drops 4 Shadow Shards
Shadow Raids reward 1 or 3 Shadow Shard as part of the base rewards, with bundles of two Shadow Shards as possible variable rewards. Since higher difficulty Shadow Raids yield more reward bundles, they have a greater potential to reward more Shadow Shards. Shadow Shard yields from Shadow Raids are unaffected by the number of Purified Gems on hand.
