[[Candice]], [[Maylene]], and {{adv|Platinum}} arrive at the meeting place on the mountain and find [[Volkner]]. Volkner sends out his Raichu and Elekid and uses discharge on the girls they are all injured and Candice yells at him. Volkner says he was disappointed because Byron said he would be meeting a dangerous enemy there. They then explain that the enemy is [[Jupiter]], a commander from Team Galactic, and that she had just beaten all three of them. Platinum then introduces herself and bravely challenges Volkner to a battle to show him Jupiter's battle style. First she sends out Lopunny against his Elekid and easily defeats him using Jupiter's Sabley's way of fighting. She then sends out her Empoleon against Volkner's Raichu Empoleon is easily defeated after showing him how Jupiter's {{p|Tangrowth}} fought. The round ends with Volkner sending out his {{p|Electivire}} and Platinum sends out her [[Platinum's Rapidash|Rapidash]].

Shorting Out Electivire (Japanese: VS エレキブル VS Electivire), titled VS Electivire in the Chuang Yi translation, is the 405th chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga, and the 68th chapter of the Diamond & Pearl arc. It is subtitled Strength and Experience (Japanese: 強さと体験 Power and Experience) in the VIZ Media translation and Strength and Experience in the Chuang Yi translation.

Candice, Maylene, and Platinum arrive at Spring Path, where they are supposed to meet Volkner. After they find Volkner, they tell him he is supposed to train them. Volkner is disappointing to hear that he is there to train, which isn't what he was told. Volkner then has his Raichu and Elekid use Discharge on Candice, Maylene, and Platinum, causing them to get injured.

They then explain that the enemy is Jupiter, a Commander from Team Galactic. They then tell Volkner that Jupiter just beat all three of them.
