Characteristics

Defensively, the Ground type is mediocre. Water-type attacks and Pokémon are common, and the other two weaknesses don't help. The resistance to Rock and immunity to Electric are nice.

Offensively, the Ground type is one of the best in the game. It scores super-effective hits against the common Electric, Fire, and Poison types as well as the Rock and Steel types which are normally very strong against physical attacks. It scores quadruple damage to the Aron family, which is resistant to most types. The two types resistant to Ground type attacks are rare. The Flying type's immunity to Ground is one of the main reasons Flying type Pokémon are so useful.
