A millennium ago, the Draconids foresaw that a giant meteoroid would crash into the planet and destroy it. The current generation spends their time attempting to avert this crisis.

The Draconids debut in person after Ruby leaves the Sky Pillar with {{p|Latios}}. They are attacked by three Draconid men named Renza (Japanese: '''レンザ''' ''Renza''), Jinga (Japanese: '''ジンガ''' ''Jinga''),  and Tomatoma (Japanese: '''トマトマ''' ''Tomatoma'') who demand to know why they were at the Sky Pillar before attacking. The three Draconids battle Ruby and Latios in the air. They explain that although they are part of the same clan, Zinnia is not affiliated with the other Draconid members. They continue to explain that another person named Aster was actually meant to be the one who would stop the meteoroid alongside Rayquaza, but she has died. In Aster's stead, Zinnia decided to take up the role of stopping the meteoroid, but since she does not have the same powers as Aster the other Draconids question whether or not she can succeed. The battle is interrupted by falling pieces of the meteoroid, which land in the sea below. The three Draconids bid their farewells to Ruby as they make their escape.

The Draconid people (Japanese: 流星の民 Meteor people) are an ancient tribe of people that live in the Hoenn region. They worship Rayquaza, who they refer to as the "Dragon Lord", after it saved the world from Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.
