Crash damage is the damage taken by the attacking Pokémon when if fails to successfully use certain moves.
Mechanics
Moves with crash damage are boosted by Reckless.
Generation I
If a move that has crash damage misses, the user takes 1 HP of crash damage.
Generation II
If a move that has crash damage misses or is blocked by a protection move, the user takes crash damage equal to 1/8 of the damage it would have dealt.
Generation III
If a move that has crash damage misses or is blocked by a protection move, the user takes crash damage equal to 1/2 of the damage it would have dealt.
Generation IV
If a move that has crash damage misses, is blocked by a protection move, or the target is immune to the attack due to its type, the user takes crash damage equal to 1/2 of the target's maximum HP.
Generation V onward
If a move that has crash damage misses, is blocked by a protection move, or the target is immune to the attack due to its type, the user takes crash damage equal to 1/2 of the user's maximum HP (rounded down).
