Appendix:Sword and Shield walkthrough/Section 1
Intro
The game will offer a choice to pick what language you want to play the game in, a default appearance for your player character, and be able to choose a name for your player character. These choices cannot be changed once selected. The game will then proceed with an opening cutscene in which Chairman Rose will introduce new Trainers to the world of Pokémon. He will then introduce an exhibition match between the Galar champion, Leon and his rival Raihan, in which both Trainers Dynamax their Pokémon.
Postwick
You start in the living room, having just watched the intro video from your phone. Hop, your neighbor, comes into the house, eagerly telling you to come with him to his house, as Leon is coming and has some big surprise for them.
Afterwards, you go to your room and pick up your bag and hat, preparing for the journey. After you and Hop leave the house, the two of you head for Hop's place. Leon will not be there, as he is late, so you and Hop go out to find Leon across to the next town.
Route 1
You can cross Route 1 to reach Wedgehurst, however, as you do not have any Pokémon with you at this time, you will not be allowed to go into the tall grass and should head straight for Wedgehurst.
Wedgehurst
Upon your first visit to Wedgehurst, you and Hop meet up with Leon, who was putting on a show for his loyal fans. The three of you head back to Postwick immediately afterwards.
Postwick
Upon returning to Postwick, Leon will present you and Hop with Starter Pokémon: Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. After a brief cutscene with them, you can make a choice as to which starter you would like to pick.
Hop will choose the starter who has a type disadvantage against the one you chose, and Leon will train the remaining starter. You will partake in a dinner feast with Hop and Leon. The following morning, you and Hop will have your first battle with each other. Hop will lead with Wooloo, then use the starter weak to your own.

Slumbering Weald
After the battle with Hop, you will hear a crashing noise from the other side of Postwick. You and Hop run there to find out the gateway in front of the Slumbering Weald has been crashed through, and find that the Wooloo who attempted to charge in broke through it. Both of you run in to save the rolling Wooloo.
You will run into three distinct Wild Pokémon along the way, but then you and Hop run into a thick fog, but not before becoming confronted by a strange wild Pokémon. You battle it, but cannot touch it as it seemingly vanishes.

After this battle, you and Hop both faint. Both of you wake up eventually, and end up running into Leon, who ran in trying to find both of you. He manages to find the Wooloo and safely take it back. After this, both of you head back to Postwick.
