8 is a dual-type Rock/Ground glitch Pokémon.

It can only be captured by using a cheating device. Although it cannot be obtained by the player without using a cheating device, it is still well-known among the Pokémon glitch community because it appears in the teams of many glitch Trainers. When it is sent out, it changes the music to a slowed-down version of the treble of the battle music from the final battle with the player's rival. This effect remains for the rest of the battle. 8 is a hybrid of Onix. If 8 is traded to Pokémon Yellow, it will become a gJ1.

8 (or rather, a glitch Trainer with an 8) can be encountered in two ways without cheating: encounter a glitch trainer through the Old man glitch, or perform Method #3 of the Mew glitch using a Pokémon with a Special stat of 253 (however, doing this will probably freeze the game).

Trivia

  • If the Hall of Fame data is viewed after the player encounters Missingno. or 'M, one of the Pokémon shown may be 8.
    • If this is the case, a slowed-down version of the bass treble played during some Routes will play until the player leaves the Pokémon Center where the corrupted data was viewed.
  • 8 learns no STAB moves.
