Character recycling is a term used for the Pokémon anime when a single visual design is used in multiple episodes for different characters. When character recycling occurs, the character is generally identical in appearance, with only cosmetic changes like hair color differing between episodes. Animators use this technique to save effort.
Examples
Annie and Stephanie
Annie was featured in Wobbu-Palooza!. A look-a-like by the name of Stephanie appears later in Having a Wailord of a Time.
Delaney and Kent
Delaney was featured in Outrageous Fortunes. A look-a-like by the name of Kent appears later in A Cacturne for the Worse.
Temacu, Oscar and Andi
Temacu was featured in The Heartbreak of Brock. Oscar and Andi were featured in The Bicker the Better. Three unnamed look-a-likes appear in Staging a Heroes' Welcome!.
Pietra
Pietra was featured in Right On, Rhydon. A Lean Mean Team Rocket Machine! features an unnamed Pietra look-a-like.
Vitzo
Vitzo was featured in The Screen Actor's Guilt. An unnamed look-a-like appears in Classroom Training!.
Alanna
Alanna was featured in A Poké-BLOCK Party. An unnamed look-a-like appeares in Opposites Interact!. A separate unnamed look-a-like features in The Battle Club and Tepig's Choice!.
Janet
Janet was featured in All Things Bright and Beautifly. An unnamed look-a-like appears in both Triple Leaders, Team Threats! and Dreams by the Yard Full!.
Erica
Erica was featured in Mean with Envy and Pacifidlog Jam. An unnamed look-a-like appears in both Triple Leaders, Team Threats! and Dreams by the Yard Full!.
