The Valley Windworks (Japanese: たにまのはつでんしょ Valley Powerplant) is a large, wind-powered power plant that lies east of Floaroma Town. It harnesses wind energy via giant windmills and converts it into electricity. Mars of Team Galactic tries to take over the station to harness its energy, but is chased away by the player of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. On Fridays, the wind blows a single Drifloon to the plant. At times, a swarm of Electrike can appear here. A sign outside reads:

Geography

The Valley Windworks is a large wind farm that holds many wind turbines to produce electrical energy around the Sinnoh. It is located between two mountain side, in a windy valley, to gain as much energy as possible. The windworks can access by going directly east of Floaroma Town and past the south side of Route 204. In the area, there are eight tall wind turbines that collect the wind energy, and transport it to the power paint, found on the northern side of area, and processes the collected engery and turns it into electrical energy. On the western side of the area, is a large patch of tall grass, where many wild electric Pokémon live. On the eastern side is a sweet honey tree, which can be covered with honey to attract wild Pokémon. On the far nouthern side, sits a running river, that goes through Route 204, and the Fuego Ironworks. By surfing across the river, two items can be found, a Max Elixir and TM24 (Thunderbolt).

On the inside of Valley Windworks power plant is a long "C" shaped room, that contains many strange machines that convert wind energy caught by the turbines into electrical energy. At the far end of the room lives a man and his daughter, that run the plant alone. The little girl explains that if the balloon Pokémon comes, the wind will blow it away, while her father explains how the power plant works.

Drifloon event

Drifloon at the Valley Windworks

Every Friday, a Drifloon will appear in the middle of the Valley Windworks. It will appear every friday, only after the events of Team Galactic's takeover, by ridding the area of them. It will be on either level 22 or level 15 when it comes. The Friday wind will blow the single Drifloon down from the mountains to the plant in the valley, and will blow away again by Saturday.

Team Galactic takeover

During the course of the game, Team Galactic will take over the Valley Windworks, by kidnapping the worker, and kicking his daughter out. This plan is to steal energy, to help Cyrus to achieve his plan to create a new world. One of the Team Galactic grunts will be standing guard in front of the door to the power plant. By defeating him, he will run inside and lock the door, which will not open until unlocked by the Works Key, which can be obtained by defeat the grunt at Floaroma Meadow. In order to rescue the plant worker, Mars must be defeated. In Pokémon Platinum, Charon is first seen along with Mars at Valley Windworks to get energy from the windworks. During this encounter, it is revealed that he joined the team after Mars. It's also here where the player discovers that Charon is, in fact, one of the four Commanders.
