This page showcases a template made for showcasing game assets, known as the AssetGallery.
roundypx - Pixel diameter of the roundy class.
bordercolor - Needs to be a named color (default: factory)
bgcolor - Needs to be a named color (default: factory)
filename - Needs to include file extension (ex. .png)
caption - Caption for under the image.
Why?
since character galleries are at the bottom of a page, verticality isnt an issue if it really is, make a gallery subpage for each character,.
Why this over the other galleries?
Default Gallery
The default MediaWiki Gallery, known simply as Gallery, is used on a variety of pages. Using Red as an example:
[+] Simple to add to. ---- Important for editors. [+] Sometimes (see below) scales with the size of the page. ---- Important for mobile, other devices, and resizing a window. ======== [x] Scaling is broken on mobile. Gallery does not scale properly to the size of the page (can be seen HERE -- https://imgur.com/J29XFuv) [x] Is aligned entirely to the left margin, and not centered. ---- Inconsistent with other tables on the site, leaves way too much negative space for smaller galleries. ---- Formats all text from the left, as opposed to being centered under the image. [x] Line breaks do not function properly. ---- Using one line break clips into the line above. Two leaves far too big of a line. [x] Does not allow for headers to better separate content per generation. ---- Stacking/making additional gallery tables to separate content is not only messy code for editors, but hugely balloons the vertical size of the page, looking far more unsightly than other options. [x] All parameters must be manually inputted. ---- Even if simple, this still means that the game icon, asset type and role of the asset are all manual. [x] Locked to a bright green color. ---- Unsightly, and is inconsistent with every page on the site. [x] All images are forced to be as big as the set gallery width. ---- This means larger sprites are made too small, and smaller images (particularly sprites) become very stretched.
The example below was taken from the Super-ancient Pokémon page.
[x] When there is too much text, it will be cut off at the bottom. ---- Unsightly, especially on desktop.
