The Regional Birds is the collective term of the birds that can be found in the beginning of each region. All the members have Normal/Flying as their typing. Each member is based on birds.

Since its debut, this evolutionary family has been popular. It has been used by Blue in Red and Blue Versions, Gold and Silver Versions, FireRed and LeafGreen Versions and HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions. It has also be used by Falkner in Gold, Silver, and Crystal Versions.

Hoothoot and Noctowl are the second Regional Birds in the National Pokédex order. They are the first Regional Birds that have a two stage family.
