Synopsis

Maryann and Tyler watch as Archie and Maxie drive away. The puzzle pieces come together in Gabby's mind. She can't decide what to do, and Tyler says they must inform the Gym Leaders and Ruby.

In the trees of Fortree, Sapphire yells at Toro. They defeat a Linoone with Ember; a Grumpig with Double Kick; and a Shiftry with Blaze Kick. She is still angry at Ruby. She jumps down in front of Winona's tower and challenges the Gym Leader. Winona sends out Masquerain, Beautifly, and Swablu. Sapphire sends out Rono, Pilo, and Dono, who attack relentlessly. Masquerain uses Stun Spore, Swablu uses Fury Attack, and Beautifly uses Whirlwind. Rono and Pilo use Aerial Ace on Beautifly and Masquerain. Dono uses Rock Tomb. Winona realizes that Sapphire will help save Hoenn and gives her the Feather Badge. Roxanne and Brawly are watching.

Ruby despairs over his lost secret. Zuzu felt his Pokémon Trainer's strong emotion and evolves into Swampert. Ruby realizes that this is natural after all they've been through together. He sees Wallace's air car and follows his instructor. Wallace goes into Winona's tower, and Ruby watches through the window. Wallace tells Winona that Mt. Chimney's death has affected nature in a number of ways. He is also worried that the Gym Leaders can unite against the crisis, causing Winona to get angry at him. Ruby observes how much the situation is like what happened between him and Sapphire. He thinks of how brave people are trying to save Hoenn and thinks of himself as a nuisance. He runs away and goes down the river on Zuzu. Wallace sees him and follows Ruby in his air car. Eventually, Wallace loses Ruby, but guesses that he'll go to Slateport City because of the Hyper Rank Contests. Wallace flies there — only to see Slateport City underwater!
