After meeting in the forest, she challenged {{Ash}} to a {{pkmn|battle}}. However, {{AP|Pikachu}} caused her {{p|Girafarig}} to become {{status|Paralysis|paralyzed}}, and it fainted as a result. Cherry admired the bond Ash shared with Pikachu, and expressed that she wished she could be that close with her Girafarig. It was rumored that when Psychic-type Pokémon share a close bond with their trainer, they can communicate telepathically. Cherry then invited Ash and {{ashfr}} to visit her hometown of Len Town. Not long afterwards, {{TRT}} appeared, using a giant {{p|Gengar}} [[Team Rocket's mechas|mecha]] to swallow all of the {{t|Psychic}} Pokémon in Len Town. Using her bond with Girafarig, Cherry was able to foresee what moves Team Rocket was going to use. This allowed Ash to free the stolen Pokémon. Girafarig's {{m|Future Sight}} then sent Team Rocket blasting off again.


While [[Ash]] and his friends were traveling to get to [[Goldenrod City]], they noticed a mysterious tail in the bushes. Ash thought it was a Ghost Pokémon, until she said it was a friendly Girafarig. Quickly they became good rivals. One time, she asked Ash to challenge her so she can prove she is worthy to become a Psychic Pokémon Master. After a harsh battle, she ended up losing because Girafarig was paralyzed from {{p|Pikachu}}'s [[Thunder]] attack.
Ash and his friends congratulated Cherry on her victory. Cherry vowed that she and Girafarig would not give up on becoming the greatest Psychic Pokémon and Trainer team.


Later on, a supersized {{p|Gengar}} swallowed Psychic Pokémon in one gulp. It was [[Team Rocket]]. Cherrie became angry about that so she told Girafarig to fire a confusion, but it got reflected. Next came a Psybeam, but other than being reflected, she and Ash were protecting Girafarig from being hit by Psybeam. They ended up being confused. Cherrie told Girafarig to use Future Sight.After that, Cherrie felt a mysterious vision of Pikachu dodging Gengar's tongue and warned Ash about that. Before it was too late, Pikachu was lifted by Confusion. Since the tongue was stretched out, it couldn't stretch more, so Pikachu fired a Thunder Attack, then a wind came in. It was Future Sight, and it destroyed Team Rocket's Robo-Gengar and ended up blasting off again. Ash and his friends congratulated her for her first victory. After Ash and his friends leave Len Town, Cherrie vows that she and Girafarig will bond together to become strong and unbeatable in the future.

Cherry (Japanese: チェリー Cherry) is a character of the day who appeared in The Psychic Sidekicks. Cherry lives in Len Town, but she plans to leave her home and become a Psychic Pokémon Master.
