Cherry

Cherry (Japanese: チェリー Cherry) is a character of the day who appeared in The Psychic Sidekicks. Cherry lives in Len Town, but she plans to leave her home and become a Psychic Pokémon Master.

After meeting in the forest, she challenged Ash to a battle. However, Pikachu caused her Girafarig to become paralyzed, and it fainted as a result. Cherry admired the bond Ash shared with Pikachu, and expressed that she wished she could be that close with her Girafarig. It was rumored that when Psychic-type Pokémon share a close bond with their trainer, they can communicate telepathically. Cherry then invited Ash and his friends to visit her hometown of Len Town. Not long afterwards, Team Rocket appeared, using a giant Gengar mecha to swallow all of the Psychic Pokémon in Len Town. Using her bond with Girafarig, Cherry was able to foresee what moves Team Rocket was going to use. This allowed Ash to free the stolen Pokémon. Girafarig's Future Sight then sent Team Rocket blasting off again.

Ash and his friends congratulated Cherry on her victory. Cherry vowed that she and Girafarig would not give up on becoming the greatest Psychic Pokémon and Trainer team.

Cherry's Girafarig is Cherry's only known Pokémon. It is a tradition in Len Town for the residents to have a Psychic type Pokémon, because of the Ghost-type Pokémon in the nearby woods. Girafarig's tail was first spotted by Misty's Psyduck, but it revealed its full self when Cherry introduced herself to Ash and his friends. Afterwards, it was used in a battle with Pikachu. With the help of moves like Future Sight, it nearly defeated Pikachu, but it fainted from Pikachu's Thunder.

Later when Team Rocket was stealing Psychic Pokémon with their giant Gengar mecha, Girafarig tried to stop the mecha with Psybeam, but the attack was deflected. Girafarig's friendship with Cherry allowed it to communicate telepathically with her to show its Trainer the future. With great teamwork, Pikachu was able to dodge Gengar's tongue and Girafarig lifted Pikachu up with Confusion. Pikachu managed to free the stolen Pokémon, and Girafarig's Future Sight blasted Team Rocket off. With this new victory Cherry vowed to make Girafarig stronger.

Girafarig's known moves are Future Sight, Stomp, Psybeam, and Confusion.
