Pokémon On a Roll is a board game manufactured by Pressman Toy. It is similar to the Pokémon Yahtzee Jr. games, but has slightly different gameplay and does not bear the Yahtzee name.

Playing the game

Pokémon On a Roll can be played with one to four players. The game comes with four score cards featuring different combinations of Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, seven dice, a cup to roll the dice, and twenty-eight Poké Ball tokens. Six of the dice have Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup on them—two of each Pokémon on each die—and the last die has a Poké Ball on one side and is blank on the other five.

The goal of the game is to match the six Pokémon dice to patterns on the score card. A player begins their turn by rolling all seven dice. If the Poké Ball is rolled, the turn ends and the player cannot score during the turn. Otherwise, if the player's Pokémon dice match a pattern on the score card, the player can place a Poké Ball token next to pattern on the score card to mark it off. If the dice did not match a pattern, the player can set aside any of the six Pokémon dice in any combination and roll the remaining dice, including the Poké Ball die, again. Their turn continues until they score a pattern or roll the Poké Ball. Each pattern can only be scored once per player.

The winner is the first player to mark off all seven patterns on their score card. Players must have an equal number of turns, so it is possible for players to tie.

The score cards have the following patterns to match:

  • Five each of the same Pokémon
  • Three Turtwig and three Piplup
  • Three Piplup and three Chimchar
  • Three Chimchar and three Turtwig
  • Two each of the three Pokémon

Second edition

A second edition of the game was released featuring Regigigas, Altered Forme Giratina, and Sky Forme Shaymin. The game is played the same as the first edition.
