Gremlin?

Exaclty what about this Pokémon is at all similar to a gremlin? Fyrmer 06:24, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Body structure...Ph34r4everTalk page 06:26, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

If you say so....I've never heard of a gremlin who lives in caves and eats gemstones....Or has luminous crystals for eyes. I'd say its behaviour is a bit closer to a goblin than a gremlin. Fyrmer 06:41, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, we aren't very smart (at least, I'm not very smart). Might want an admin to explain. Ph34r4everTalk page 06:43, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

What does a gremlin look like? Fyrmer 02:25, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Gremlin on Wikipedia has a picture or two. It's remarkably similar in look, although the original legend of Gremlins has nothing to do with caves or gems or anything of the sort.
Goblin is similar; notice that Goblin is quite a wide-reaching archetype, and Gremlins, Imps, Kobolds, are all generally related to (or derived from) Goblins.
That aside, I'd say Sableye is based off an Imp. Imps are generally lively and mischievous, much like how Sableye acts. A quote from Wikipedia: "Some accounts of imps treat them as capable of being turned to good, because they are so desperately lonely they would do almost anything—even commit good deeds—to have a committed friend; however, it is regarded as almost impossible for any imp to fully forsake its "impish" ways." Lonely eh? That also sounds very much like Sableye.
I'll change the article to Imp, because I think it sounds a lot closer then Gremlin; any objections, you all know how to undo. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 01:17, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

egg cycle

I don't know the number of egg cycles for Sableye, but the number of steps is actually 8012. I just hatched one on Platinum and used the step counter. Just throwing it out there - unsigned comment from Zjoe0 (talkcontribs)

We use the number of steps directly extracted from the game, not out of tests hatched in the game... there's extra factors to how long an egg hatches when playing the game itself, but there's base data for it and it's as listed in the article. →Tinā 21:38, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Trivia

though it is stated shiny sableye have an emerald on its chest, if you look carefully on its ordinary genIII backsprite and in the anime, it has a ruby, sapphire AND an emerald on its back. i think this needs adding--Ben7229 17:22, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

The third gem on its back is not an emerald; if you look at the Gen IV sprites, the bottom two gems are the same color, for both the normal and shiny sprites. This means they are both sapphires on the normal sprite. (For the shiny sprite, since those gems are yellow, I'd assume topaz or some similar colored gemstone.) --PhantomJunkie 17:34, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Is it really worth noting that Sableye and Spiritomb had no weakness in the past but no longer do?

I mean think about it. On the Floatzel page it doesn't say that it used to be the fastest water-type Pokémon and no longer is. On Mewtwo's page it doesn't say it had the highest special attack in the first generation but no longer does, (I mean the regular form, not the mega evolutions) I could go on and on.

We won't know what its Mega Stone name will be until its released, probably.
