11 is a grassy field where you'll find the southern entrance to Diglett's Cave, which leads to 2 in the northwest.  To wake up the Snorlax, you'll need to manually tune the PokéGear's radio to the Poké Flute channel (located at the top of the screen), and exit the menu.  Approach the snoozing creature while the soothing melody is playing to snap it out of its slumber.  It wakes up annoyed, and attacks the closest living thing.  After the battle, heal up in Vermilion and step inside Diglett's Cave.

! Trainers
Diglett's Cave is a short tunnel that connects 11 to 2 in the west.  You won't be able to reach the upper level without 08, so you'll have to wait to reach the Vitamin, Incense, and Vitamin. You can, however, pick up a Max Revive on the south side.  Like the name implies, this is the only location to find wild Diglett and Dugtrio, as well.

Trek through the tunnel, and you'll emerge just south of Pewter City.
Cutest Pokémon in the World
Use Cut to reach the tall grass patch. Speak to the woman here, and she asks if you know which Pokémon is the cutest in the world. According to her, that title belongs to Chansey, and nothing can be done to change her mind. If you speak to her again with a Chansey in the party, she gives out a Lucky Punch.

Chasing the Aurora
As you move northward along the road, you run across Suicune yet again, standing out among the waves. It flees like usual, racing northward over the water's surface. Eusine arrives a moment later, and states that he is beginning to understand what the legendary beast may be hoping to find. He would rather keep the info to himself, but wants to prove himself an honest Trainer to Suicune, and so shares the clue with you. According to him, Suicune prefers a hilly place near water, somewhere north. He is not sure exactly where just yet, and challenges you to see who can find the place first.

Route 13
13 is a difficult, narrow path that leads eastward toward 12. Many Trainers can be found among the maze of fences.

Route 2
After emerging from Diglett's Cave, you can find a Vitamin to the northeast.  Visit the man in the house south of here to obtain a Valuable item, and shake the tree nearby to get a pink Apricorn.  Step inside the guardhouse and speak to Professor Oak's aide to receive a Sacred Ash, and continue south to reach an Ether.  Cut through the line of trees to access the route's west side.  Head up north again to enter Viridian Forest.

Route 12
12 connects 13, 11, and Lavender Town. Also known as Silence Bridge, it is a favorite spot for Fishermen.
Viridian Forest
Unlike in Generation II, the trees of Viridian Forest are alive and well.  From the southern guardhouse, head west and Cut the tree to find a Ether hidden in the grass.  Continue north along the path and you'll find a Valuable item hidden near the single tree.  Not far to the east is a Leaf Stone sitting in plain sight.  Jump the ledge and head east to find a Valuable item hidden on the side of the rock ledge.  Head south to reach the entrance again, then turn to the east.  Beyond Bug Catcher Dane you'll find 77, as well as another Valuable item hidden just north of it.  Climb up the stairway and continue north; you can either fight two more Bug Catchers and grab another hidden Valuable item on the eastern path, or hike through the tall grass to the west.  Head north to find a Flute lying in the path, then trek to the northeast for another Valuable item hidden in the trees.  Follow the zigzag trail to the west and pick up the Battle item.  South of Bug Catcher Abner is a tiny, dead-end trail leading into the trees that hides a Potion.  Continue to the northwest to reach the exit.

Fishing Guru 3
The house to the south of the intersection with 11 is home to the Fishing Guru's younger brother. Speak to him to receive the Super Rod. This high-end fishing rod is the best model available and can reel in some of the strongest sea creatures.

Pewter City
Pewter City is a quiet city, surrounded on all sides by dense forests, steep mountains, and craggy rocks.  Speaking of rocks, the Pewter Museum can restore ancient fossils into live Pokémon.  Most of the museum's exhibits are currently on display at other museums, so admission is free.

First off, stop by the Poké Center to rest your team.  Inside is a man who will offer to trade his Xatu for your Haunter; you can only obtain a Xatu by catching a Natu at the Ruins of Alph, so it may be worth the trade to you.  Check the garden in the city's southeast to find a hidden Battle item, and follow the trail west of the Museum to find a set of In-battle effect item, which boosts the power of special moves by 10%.

Pewter Museum of Science
There are a few displays in the main room, and in the smaller room to the right is a scientist that can resurrect ancient Pokémon from fossils.  The fossils introduced in Generation I can be found under Rock Smash rocks scattered around the Ruins of Alph, while those introduced in Generation III may be found in Cliff Cave.  However, the Skull and Armor Fossils are not readily available in , and must be traded over from the Sinnoh-based games.

DPcity

Brock still commands the Pewter Gym, meaning that the place still specializes in the Rock.  Since the Pewter Gym is typically the first of the Kanto Gyms to be challenged, it has the simplest design.  The Gym has only two Gym Trainers, or you can take the circuitous route and avoid both.  To achieve a swift victory, use supereffective attacks to inflict quadruple damage — use Water attacks against his Graveler, Rhyhorn, and Onix, as well as Grass attacks against Omastar and Kabutops.  Watch out for Earthquake, Giga Drain, and the occasional Horn Drill, but by now your team likely has a decent level advantage, so his team won't be too much of a threat.

Upon his defeat, Brock awards you the Boulder, as well as 80, which has a 30% chance of making the foe flinch.
After the Gym battle
Stop by the Poké Center and heal your team if needed, then head east towards 3.  Near Pewter's eastern city limits, you'll see an old man standing on a raised bit of earth by the Poké Mart.  Talk to him, and he'll give you an item he found as a young man while training in Johto, the List of key items in Generation IVHG / List of key items in Generation IVSS.  With this, you can finally track down the second of the two polar legendaries, LugiaHG / Ho-OhSS.
Go east to reach 3.

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
These pages follow the remade Nintendo DS iteration, not Pokémon Gold and Silver. The guide for those games can be found here.

Route 15

Route 15

Route 15 is a hilly path that leads east from Fuchsia City to Route 14.

Route 14

Route 14

Route 14 is a pleasant coastal road where the salty breeze blows in from the sea. The path runs north to Route 13.

Route 13

Route 13

Route 13 is a difficult, narrow path that leads eastward toward Route 12. Many Trainers can be found among the maze of fences.

Route 12

Route 12

Route 12 connects Route 13, Route 11, and Lavender Town. Also known as Silence Bridge, it is a favorite spot for Fishermen.

Fishing Guru 3

The house to the south of the intersection with Route 11 is home to the Fishing Guru's younger brother. Speak to him to receive the Super Rod. This high-end fishing rod is the best model available and can reel in some of the strongest sea creatures.
