Specializes in Steel types

Poppy (Japanese: ポピー Poppy) is a member of Elite Four of the Paldea region. She specializes in Steel-type Pokémon.

In the core series games

Poppy is first introduced to the player by Rika after they have won seven Gym Badges. Although she is far younger than the rest of the Elite Four, as well as Paldea's Gym Leaders, Poppy is considered one of the strongest Pokémon Trainers in the region. She is normally sweet and good-natured, but becomes competitive during battles; because of her age, she refers to her Pokémon with childlike nicknames. After the player becomes a Champion, Poppy watches their battle against Nemona in Mesagoza.

Pokémon

Poppy will Terastallize her Tinkaton at the first opportunity.

At the seventh Gym's lobby, after the Gym battle
"Rika! Rika!"
"Oh wow... Oh wow! B-but I think the Pokémon on Team Poppy are really strong, too. Like, REALLY strong!"
"Well, ummm... I'm one of the Elite Four! So I'm more amazing!"
"Yeah! I am! I hope I get to show you my Pokémon soon, mister/miss! So hurry up and come to the Pokémon League! It's where the, um...pinnacle! It's where the pinnacle of Pokémon battling happens! See you there!"

"Cooomiiing!"
"Oh wow! Did you lose, Rika?"
"You bet I will!"
  • Before battle
    • "It's so cool you made it this far! But this is where you say bye-bye, mister/miss! All my Pokémon are super tough! Your weak attacks won't work on them at all! They'll bounce right off—you'll see!"
    • "I can't wait for you to meet my friends, so...here they come!"
  • In battle
    • "Go on, Rajah! Smush 'em!"
      • Before sending out her last Pokémon: "I'm not scared! My last Pokémon will turn things around!"
      • Before Terastallizing her Tinkaton: "It's time to get dressed up all pretty, Tinkie!"
      • Upon using Tinkaton's Gigaton Hammer: "Steel-hard Pokémon always get a solid victory! So I'm gonna win!"
      • After being defeated: "Uagh?! Mmmuuuggghhh..."
  • After battle
    • "Waaaaaah! Waaaaaah! I wanted to take revenge on you, Rika!"
    • "Oh, that's right! I haven't had to do this in a long time!"
    • "It's your turn, Mr. Larry!"
  • After Hassel is defeated
    • "Oh wow!"
    • "Awww, don't cry, Grandpa Hassel! There, there—wanna hug?"
    • "Yeeeaaah! You're tougher than steel!"
    • "I really love your Pokémon, mister/miss!
    • "So I'll cheer for you as hard as I can!"
