Friend Guard (Japanese: フレンドガード Friend Guard) is an Ability introduced in Generation V.

Effect

In battle

Friend Guard reduces the damage received by allies (from both opponents and other allies) by 25%. It does not reduce the damage dealt by moves that deal direct damage. Friend Guard stacks multiplicatively, so with two Pokémon with Friend Guard on the same side of the field, damage is multiplied by 9/16 (a damage reduction of 43.75%).

Outside of battle

Friend Guard has no effect outside of battle.
