This Tretta was awarded as a prize at the Challenge! Mega Strong! Mega Evolution Battle event held at the 40th Next Generation World Hobby Fair, which took place at Makuhari Messe, Chiba on June 28 and 29, 2014. It was awarded again in the same manner at several later events. Details of these events are as follows:
- As part of the Pokémon Center Summer Festival in Centrair, held at the Chūbu Centrair International Airport, Nagoya from July 19 to 21, 2014, and on August 23 and 24, 2014.
- As part of Kids Game Festa 2014 Summer, which was held at several locations across Japan between July 26 and September 7, 2014.
- As part of the Ciao Summer Festival, held at the Kobe International Exhibition Hall, Kobe on July 27, 2014, and at Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama on August 9 and 10, 2014.

The focal Pokémon for this challenge was Mewtwo and its two possible Mega Evolutions. As with previous events, entrants were tasked to defeat it in one of four possible teams of three Pokémon. These teams are detailed below.
Players who managed to defeat Mega Mewtwo Y were awarded this Tretta. Players who did not manage to defeat Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y at these events were instead awarded a Heracross Tretta. All participants were also given one of five possible Mega Stones at random to be used with the interactive Pokémon Mega Ring, and a Mega Stone Encyclopedia Art Board. The five stones available were Absolite, Lucarionite, Charizardite Y, Charizardite X, and Garchompite. The Mega Stones were only distributed at the World Hobby Fair event, and the Mega Stone Encyclopedia Art Board was only available at the World Hobby Fair and Ciao Summer Festival events.
