Effect

Constrict inflicts damage and has a 10% chance of lowering the target's Speed stat by one stat level.

Trivia

  • Although Constrict is a Template:Type2 move, no Normal-type Pokémon can legally learn the move, with the obvious exception of Smeargle. Also, although its entry states that it involves the user attacking the foe with long tentacles or vines, it is not a Template:Type2 move.
  • Constrict has the lowest base power out of all damage-dealing moves.
  • This move shares its Japanese translation with another move, Coil Around.
