Trivia
- Yanmega and its pre-evolution, Yanma, are the only Pokémon whose names begin with the letter Y.
- Yanmega has the highest base Special Attack stat of any Template:Type2 Pokémon.
- It also has the highest base stat total of all bug pokemon.
- Yanmega is the largest Bug-type Pokémon.
- Yanmega is the last Bug-type Pokémon in National Dex order as of Generation IV.
Origin
It is, as its name suggests, based on the Meganeura monyi species of dragonflies.
Name origin
Yanmega's name is a combination of 蜻蜓 yanma, large dragonfly in Japanese, and Meganeura, a species of gigantic prehistoric dragonfly. Its Japanese name means the same thing, albeit in reverse. Though, it could just simply be a combination of mega, meaning large, and yanma.
